'Irks my soul': 'American Idol' Season 22 fans call Mackenzie Sol's elimination 'deserving' in fiery backlash

Fans of American Idol felt that Mackenzie Sol's elimination was rightly justified a they found him unfit for top 14

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans of 'American Idol' Season 22 expressed happiness as Mackenzie Sol was eliminated in the recent episode, as they believed the singer didn't deserve to make it to the top 14. Many fans felt that his performances weren't up to par and that his elimination was justified. They believed that other contestants deserved to advance instead of him. Overall, fans were relieved to see Mackenzie Sol leave the competition, hoping for stronger performances from the remaining contestants in the upcoming episodes.

Sol performed a song by Lady Gaga in the latest episode of American Idol but unfortunately did not advance to the Top 14. Later, the 23-year-old is sang "False Alarms" by Lawrence and Jon Bellion but still culdnt make it to the finalists' list and was eliminated. 

"Mackenzie def should have gone through," said a user. "I think Mackenzie deserved to go based on his vocals bc he really is good. But we got enough white people," said another.  "Mackenzie irks my soul sm," added another. 

Some viewers genuinely wanted the singer to go home. "I just need Mackenzie to go home that is all im asking for," said a user. "MacKenzie needs to go, horrible," added another. 

Luke Bryan thinks Mackenzie Sol is still growing

In the latest episode of American Idol, the judges shared their thoughts on Mackenzie's performance. Luke Bryan expressed that Mackenzie is still evolving in the competition, noting that he's becoming someone fans want to root for and added how he was still "growing." Lionel Richie praised the passion Mackenzie brings to his performances, highlighting his emotional connection to the songs. However, Katy Perry suggested that Mackenzie work on his pronunciation and advised him to continue enjoying the experience and expressing himself through his music.

The 23-year-old from Henderson, Nevada performed "I'll Never Love Again" by Lady Gaga. He started by playing the piano and then transitioned to working the stage, showcasing his vocal range with powerful high notes and impressive falsetto. 

'American Idol' Season 22 top 14 revealed

In the latest episode of American Idol, the Top 14 contestants who will advance to the next stage of the competition have been revealed. Among them are familiar faces like Kayko, Mia Matthews, and Jack Blocker, as well as newcomers like McKenna Faith Breinholt and Emmy Russell. The diverse lineup also includes Kaibrienne, Abi Carter, Will Moseley, Julia Gagnon, Triston Harper, Jayna Elise, Jordan Anthony, Nya, and Roman Collins. These talented singers will now compete head-to-head for a chance to become the next American Idol.

Unfortunately, Ajii, Jennifer Jeffries, Odell Bunton Jr., Mackenzie Sol, Kennedy Reid, and Quintavious Johnson were among those who did not make it to the next round. Despite their talent and efforts, they were unable to secure a spot among the finalists.

'American Idol' Season 22 airs on Sundays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
