A little bit of disco, a splash of neon, and a lot of gore is what the upcoming ninth season of 'American Horror Story' comes armed with this September. Titled 'American Horror Story: 1984', the FX anthology horror is living up to its name with all the fun disco aesthetics associated with the era, sprinkled with full-on bloody slasher action, taking inspiration from the likes of 'Scream' and 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', or at least that's what the latest teaser suggests.

The first-ever teaser for the upcoming season showed a woman frantically running through the woods, expectedly being chased by the murderer. She manages to hide inside a cabin on the outskirts, but it's evident there is no escape. The second full-length trailer offered a little more insight, showing a bunch of friends taking a road trip to remote Camp Redwood while a masked figure similar to Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface can be seen hiding in the trunk of the same car the friends are traveling in. The next scene shows the group of friends diving into a lake amidst the sun and fun of summer, and as one of them drifts away on a floater in the water, the murderer strikes with a knife, setting the perfect mood for all things related to the slasher-genre.

The third teaser showed another gory portrayal of the horror with two heavily injured friends hiding underneath a wood panel as the killer walks overhead before striking them down with an axe. But a more fun vibe to the neon and artsy disco aesthetic of the 80s was added by another recently released teaser. The group is enjoying on their camping trip, and it is unknown if this is before or after the masked-murderer has already taken the life of one of them. Clad in summer outfits in all shades of neon with headbands and marshmallows serving as the perfect accessories for the ambiance, things take a sinister turn when one of them says he is going to get more wood for the campfire.

A member of their group jokingly warns him about how "scary" it is out there, and later goes to spook the guy who had gone to get wood. But the axe left struck on an almost chopped off tree suddenly comes to life and strikes the two men, presumably murdering them just a few feet away from the rest of the gang. In the most recent news, another teaser shows a girl in the group listening to her walkman all alone on the dock by the lake, before the murderer grabs her by her hanging ankles and pulls her down. And if that's not enough to creep you out, the latest teaser shows a couple - from the same group of friends - going skinny dipping in the lake, as the killer watches over them from the banks with the ominous axe in his hands.

Want to be spooked out more? Here's a fun tip: The killer could very well be one among the many friends in the group!

'American Horror Story: 1984' premieres on September 18, at 10pm/9c, only on FX.
