'All Rise': Release date, plot, cast, and everything you need to know about CBS' new procedural comedy-drama

CBS' fall 2019 lineup targets diverse representation and the legal drama starring Simone Missick as a newly-appointed judge will take an inside look at all those who work in the judicial system.

CBS is attempting to diversify its lineup and target a broader audience with four new shows featuring diverse leads: 'Bob Hearts Abishola', 'Magnum PI', 'All Rise' and 'The Neighborhood'. Among them, 'All Rise' is legal procedural featuring a diverse cast that includes many familiar faces.

Release Date

The show will premiere on CBS on September 23, 2019 at 9 pm Central.

Plot

'All Rise' will follow the chaotic, hopeful and somewhat absurd lives of legal professionals like judges, prosecutors, bailiffs and so forth. The show focuses on Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick) who is a newly-appointed judge following a successful stint as a Deputy District Attorney. Lola will show that there is more to a judge than just sitting behind the desk and will actively bring out her humanity while flashing her legal chops, thus challenging the expectations of what a judge should be. Lola will also continue working with her best friend who also happens to be Deputy District Attorney Mark Callan (Wilson Bethel).

At the Television Critics Association panel in July 2019, Executive Producer Sunil Nayar stated that "covers the spectrum of what happens, but the stakes will never feel lower because of the nature of the crime. Expect heavy and light moments as the show goes behind closed doors in a courthouse and shows the stakes are never low for the individual accused, no matter the size of the crime. It will explore that even the smallest of crimes -- like unpaid parking tickets -- can have a major impact on people.
