‘Ali & Ratu, Ratu Queens’ is an upcoming Indonesian movie that will be making its way to Netflix on June 17. The story follows a teenager named Ali (Iqbaal Dhiafakhri Ramadhan) who recently lost his father and embarks on a journey to New York in search of his estranged mother.
However, he gets to know the real meaning of life when he soon finds love and connection in unexpected places. The movie was initially slated to release in 2020, but the production of the movie was put on hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Netflix press site, the Indonesian movie will be airing in the US at 3 am ET. Viewers can watch the movie by subscribing to Netflix’s free plan. Apart from that, viewers can also opt for different subscription plans provided by the streaming giant.
Plot
The movie depicts a young boy named Ali who went to New York to find his estranged mother, who has left him after his father’s death. He was petite at that time. The boy’s journey to New York takes a turn, and Ali gets some connections that he had never expected.
Cast
Iqbaal Dhiafakhri Ramadhan will be portraying the character of Ali in the movie. Iqbaal is known for his roles in the Indonesian series ‘Dilan’. Meanwhile, Jonathan Sienkiewicz and Aurora Ribero will be playing the roles of Steve and Eva respectively.
Ian Whitt is featuring as Bude while Tika Panggabean will play the role of Ajeng. Other actors to appear in the movie are Asri Welas (Biyah), Happy Salma (Chinta), Bayu Skak (Zoopunk), and Ibnu Jamil (Hasan).
Creators
The movie is being directed by Lucky Kuswandi. The filmmaker is known for directing movies like ‘Madame X’, ‘In the Absence of the Sun’ and ‘Galih dan Ratna’. Kuswandi has been nominated for various prestigious awards and his movies have premiered at various film festivals.
‘Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens’ is written by Gina S Noer. On the other hand, Muhammad Zaidy & Meiske Taurisia serve as producers on the project.
