'AGT' Season 17 Semifinals: Fans say 'there were better singers' after Madison Taylor Baez's 'off key' performance
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: With a new set of acts taking on the 'America's Got Talent' stage, the stakes are as high as they can possibly get. With only two artists advancing to the finals, there are a lot of dreams on the line with each passing performance.
Before taking to the main stage, Madison Taylor Baez explained that she had been coming to the auditions since she was 8 years old. After witnessing a golden buzzer moment during Season 13, she saved a bit of the confetti that poured down and was determined to have a moment like that on 'AGT'. She began singing to help her father cope with cancer and now, wanted to win the show for him as well.

Madison certainly put her all into the performance and the judges had largely positive things to say. Simon did note that she was 'off key', but added that in the larger scheme of things, it didn't matter. However, fans were not as forgiving when it came to her performance.
"She’s a kid, she’ll make it to the finals, it’s rinse and repeat every flippin year where a child singer either wins or comes in 2nd. Boring #AGT" said a fan. "No @howiemandel, I don't love her. Maddie is okay but we've heard better child singers on this show in the past. She was off key but she's a Golden Buzzer. So she might make it. #AGT" added another. "@AGT Maddie is just not translating well for me vocally over the TV. I am more than likely wrong but it just wasn't good for me tonight." said a fan. "Meh, it’s Maddie, she’s not all that #AGT" wrote a fan. "Um it *does* matter when singers go off key. There were better singers. #AGT" said another. "Of course, Maddie will make the #AGT finals & Simon will sign her if not already. It's all set up that way and yes a standing ovation" tweeted a fan.
