'The Voice' judges at ACM Awards: Kelsea Ballerini made fans go green with envy, Blake Shelton gave the blues
'The Voice' this season has certainly had its fair share of country superstars and not surprisingly they had quite a part to play at the ACM Awards on Sunday night, April 19. Kelsea Ballerini looked absolutely stunning on the red carpet. In fact, Kelsea's emerald green mask even managed to somehow elevate her look.
Kelsea was nominated for Female Artist at the ACM Awards and had this to say about her nomination. “I’m thrilled. It was a hard year to navigate how to stay connected to fans and stay creative and the fact that these awards are voted on by my peers and that they put me in the top 5 – it’s really encouraging because I worked really hard to pivot last year and it means a lot to me. Getting nominated – I never think about winning I just think about ‘Do I Get to perform?’ I luckily do this year with my hometown hero premiering our new song together.”

Kelsea is excited to perform her new single with Kenny Chesney, 'Half of My Hometown', during the show. Talking about the song Kelsea says, “This song is really special. It all happened with a lot of ease – from us writing it to Kenny signing on. The performance is really about the song. I love bells and whistles – I’ve come down from a floating heart at the ACMs before – this is opposite of that. It’s really about Kenny and I telling a story about the relationship of our hometown.”
Kelsea was also joined at the ACM Awards by fellow judge Blake Shelton. While Kelsea was head-to-toe glamour, Blake was well, head-to-toe denim. Blake's set of songs for the award show included 'Austin' and 'Minimum Wage'. Team Blake's mentors Dan and Shay were also present at the awards and were nominated for Duo of the Year. It looks like they could have done with a helpful mentor themselves though. Their performance of the ballad 'Glad You Exist' came in for plenty of criticism from fans. One fan tweeted, "CBS absolutely botched the Dan and Shay performance. Ridiculous. The hottest artist in country and they blew it. I feel so bad for Dan and Shay! You had one job #ACMAwards."

Some couldn't decide if it was a technical glitch or if Dan and Shay were lipsyncing. One fan tweeted, "Either Dan and Shay really suck at lip synching OR the ACM awards needs to find a new audio guy. My guess is the audio was messed up. #ACMAwards."

It wasn't just the country side of 'The Voice' however that was represented at the ACM Awards. John Legend was also a part of the nominees' list and was nominated for Video of the Year along with Carrie Underwood for 'Hallelujah'.
You can catch the judges of 'The Voice' back in their seats on Mondays at 8/7c on NBC.
