‘Stumptown’ Episode 14: Dex is deceived by her own judgment while Tookie becomes Grey’s idea guy
Dex Parios (Cobie Smulders) may be clumsy, laidback and as unstable as a broken chair, but she carries the intuitions of a wild cat, which are put on display when she turns a PI. However, in the latest episode, Dex surprises herself when her judgment is misplaced, almost for the first time.
In ‘Til Dex Do Us Part’, Dex is approached by an overprotective sister, who is worried about her sibling Jenna (Troian Bellisario) marrying the wrong man, who she thinks is rushing to alter only to get a green card.
She also tells Dex that Jenna’s fiance Zack (Eoin Macken) identifies himself as a tattoo artist under the pseudonym of ‘Knight Shift’. Following the usual drill, Dex goes looking for him at his tattoo studio in the pretext of getting a blackbird tattoo.
Unable to find any evidence against Zack, she returns, only to learn later that his wife passed in a car accident. Dex goes back to the studio to question him about Delilah’s death, already having assumed that he killed his wife before associating himself with Jenna for her immense wealth.
However, when Zack reveals the truth about his wife’s death, a vulnerable Dex tears up as she remembers the love of her life, Benny.
She withdraws herself from the investigation and tells her client that Jenna has found just the right partner for herself. But when Jenna’s sister, tells Dex that her sister was never married before, contrary to what she had heard from Zack about him and Jenna connecting over a lost partner, Dex takes it upon herself to investigate the couple’s suspicious relationship.
Grey McConnell (Jake Johnson), who just wanted to get Tookie (Adrian Martinez) out of his hair unable to deal with the enthusiasm of the taco truck owner, begins to regret his actions when Tookie decides to cut ties with Bad Alibi for good, which seems to have cost a lot for Grey’s bar.
He meets with Tookie at the taco truck stand and apologizes for his reckless behavior. Grey even asks Tookie to come back to Bad Alibi as the duo seal the deal.
‘Stumptown’ airs on Wednesdays on ABC.
