'I want to know what happened': Aaron Carter’s fiancee Melanie Martin responds to his mom's ‘murder claim'
LANCASTER, CALIFORNIA: Aaron Carter's fiancée, Melanie Martin, has finally spoken out in response to his mother's claims of foul play and that he may have been murdered. Carter, 34, was found dead in the bathtub of his Lancaster home, on November 5, 2022. Although an official autopsy report is yet to be released, it was suggested the 'I Want Candy' singer, who has a history of drug abuse, died of an accidental overdose.
Previously, Carter’s mother, Jane Elizabeth, shared pictures of the singer's bathroom in which his body were found, showing towels strewn on the bathroom floor. Martin has come forward claiming she shares his mother's concerns as "many factors discussed with the police and coroner do not add up to [a] simple overdose." She added that the singer was acting strange before his death, saying "nothing of the last few days of his life added up to a normal pattern," per The Sun.

Unusual incidents
Jane claimed that the cops "never investigated it as a possible crime scene because of his addiction past." She said, "Aaron had a lot of death threats and many, many people who were making his life miserable." Martin, however, said, "I want to know what really happened so I can focus on raising our son Prince without constantly losing sleep on what happened to his father every night."
Martin highlighted a few incidents she believed were very unusual. She claimed Carter's phone was found in his car after his death and had not been used for 24 hours. She said that this was very strange as he "was inseparable from his iPhone." "I never saw Aaron leave his phone unattended, especially well away from where he was found," she said, adding that he preferred using the shower and "rarely used the tub" where his body was discovered. "He would also always lock the door for privacy," she said, adding at the time of his death, the bathroom door was unlocked.
'I wish we knew'
Martin pointed out that their dog Zelda's behavior did not add up since the pet was locked in the bathroom with Carter. "With how long he supposedly was in there with our dog Zelda, it doesn’t add up how our dog didn’t use the restroom there," she said, while also questioning "how Zelda, a trained service dog didn’t damage a thing while Aaron was in there." Furthermore, Martin said, "On the Tuesday before his death, I called a welfare check on Aaron when he was driving the RV." Cops reportedly pulled over the singer and performed a sobriety test which turned out to be negative.
"Due to the media attention it caused, Aaron felt I embarrassed him, so we decided to take a break from each other for a couple of days," Martin said, adding, "I went with our son to stay at my mother's house." She explained she was "super worried that Aaron would relapse again, since he had a couple of times in recent months." She noted that "he signed up for outpatient rehab, and scheduled an appointment for Friday, November 4." It is unknown if the 'I'm All About You' singer attended the appointment.
"I had sent our housekeeper several text messages showing concern for his wellbeing with no response from her," Martin claimed, adding, "No one notified me that Aaron had left his home for Walmart that evening despite my asking of just that." She added, "It was unusual he would [do that] because of his anxiety. He’d usually ask someone else to go places for him." She said the last thing she heard about Carter was from the housekeeper's friend, who told her that he was "eating snacks." "It was odd to me that the friend was answering instead of our housekeeper. Hopefully one day soon we’ll have an answer [as to what happened to Carter] instead of telling Prince years from now 'I wish we knew.'"
