'37 Seconds': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the Japanese movie on self-discovery coming to Netflix
In a society where being challenged with a physical condition is considered a weakness, there are still people who do not back down and continue to live their dreams.
'37 Seconds' is one such story of Yuma Takada, a young Manga artist with cerebral palsy, who will embark on a journey of self-discovery and see the world with her unique mental abilities.
Release Date
'37 Seconds' was first screened at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival and won the Audience Award and International Confederation of Art Cinemas’ Art Cinema Award. It was also played at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival and TIFF 2019.
The movie will be available to the global audience for the first time as Netflix releases in on January 31, 2020.
Plot
’37 Seconds’ follows the story of Yuma Takada, a 23-year old Manga artist. She is talented and eyes achieving fame in her career. There's only one roadblock in her life. Her cerebral palsy prevents her from living life like most young women of her age.
Her editor also feels that despite her talent and proficiency in her work, she lacks the typical "worldly experience". That triggers Takada to head out into the world and explore sexuality, emotions, and life as she sees it.
On her journey of self-discovery, Takada will find out about herself and the world that she has kept herself away from.
Cast
'37 Seconds' features Mei Kayama as Yuma Takada and Misuzu Kanno as Kyoko Takada in the lead characters. Other cast members include Shunsuke Daitō, Makiko Watanabe, Minori Hagiwara, Yuka Itaya, Shizuka Ishibashi, Kiyohiko Shibukawa, Shôhei Uno.
Makiko Watanabe is a Japanese actor, writer, known for her work in known for 'Capturing Dad' (2012), 'M/Other' (1999) and 'Isola: Multiple Personality Girl' (2000).
Misuzu Kanno as Kyoko Takada Misuzu Kanno is a Japanese actress, known for 'Vise' (2019), 'Lost Girls' and 'Love Hotels and Little Giants' (2017).
Minori Hagiwara is an actress, known for 'The Blue Hearts' (2017), 'As the Gods Will' (2014) and 'I''s' (2018).
