'The World Ep 1': Ateez sell 1M copies of album for FIRST time ever, fans say 'life is good'

Ateez is the first fourth-gen boy group, which is not a part of the Big 4 K-pop label, to get a million-seller album

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: With K-pop going global, there is finally enough space for all talented groups to get recognized. Ateez became the first fourth-gen boy group that is not from a Big 4 K-pop Label (JYPE, YG, SM, HYBE) to sell a million copies of their album. Fans already knew their latest comeback 'The World Ep.1: Movement' was going to be their most successful one yet.

'The World Ep.1: Movement' has been pretty exciting from the get-go as Ateez promoted it with guerrilla-style marketing which falls in line with their lead single 'Guerrilla'. Atinys (Ateez's fans) first celebrated when Ateez became the first fourth-gen boy group not from the Big 4 to get a million pre-orders. It is an impressive growth from their debut album which had made 430 sales on day 1. And now, in less than 4 years, Ateez has their first million-seller album.

Ateez's first million-seller album

Ateez has been breaking several personal records with 'The World Ep.1: Movement'. They won all of the times they were nominated on music shows, making 'Guerrilla' the Ateez song with the most wins. The album then ranked #3 on Billboard 200 making them the fifth K-pop group to enter the top 3 of the chart. It should be noted that the first four groups before them are BTS, Super M, NCT 127, and Stray Kids, all part of the Big 4 labels. Well, Ateez's album had almost sold over 900K copies in its first week. And now, less than 2 months later, they have finally hit the million mark. 

'Proud is understatement'

A non-fan said, "They are one of the only 4th generation bgs that I know by name. I don't know their music, but they've been consistent with gathering western fans and releasing music. This is big. They should be proud."

With some downplaying their success, one Atiny said, "Being a million seller from big company is so easy but for group like ateez it's not easy they worked so hard for 4 years to become successful meanwhile a group from big company getting million sell and fans waiting for them so don't ever talk about ateez bc they're organic."

Happy fans made tweets like, "The fact that they started with 460 album sales and now achieving 1M sales my ateez proud is understatement THE WORLD EP:1 MILLION SELLER." Another fan added, "Waking up to ateez being regular radio djs AND million seller life is good when you're an atiny."
