LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' Episode 6 aired on Disney+ on July 2, 2024. The enthralling episode saw Osha (Amandla Stenberg) heal from the attack on her by her twin sister Mae. The gripping episode began with Osha waking up on an unknown planet next to the Sith who was revealed to be Mae's former accomplice Qimir (Manny Jacinto).

Qimir or 'The Stranger' as he is known now has a discussion with Osha about a variety of things where the two of them share an uncomfortable chemistry but strangely, they do find a lot of common ground.

The discussion explores the past of both Qimir and Osha and also hints at a possible change of character in the coming few episodes for Osha.

Why did Osha not kill Qimir?

Osha initially threatens to kill Qimir in the episode but as their conversation goes on, she stops herself from doing so. She does say that her restraint was because the Jedi do not harm an unarmed person, but it does seem that there is more to it.

Qimir talks about his past and tells Osha that he was once a Jedi who was thrown out by the Jedi Masters. He draws parallels between himself and Osha and tells her that she was thrown out too.

Although Osha insists that she quit voluntarily, Qimir keeps pointing out the emotional instinct that Osha has. This is what makes her unsuitable for being a Jedi. She talks about how she was taught that anger and desire lead people to the dark side. Qimir also pointed out that Master Sol (Lee Jung-Jae) and his force are no match for what Osha has and that makes the Jedi Masters insecure.

Osha has every reason to harm Qimir as he was the one who killed an entire team of Jedis most of whom, Osha knew for a long time but Osha decides to let Qimir go.

Qimir also talks about an emotional backstory where he shows a scar on his back which he says he got from a Jedi Master who stabbed him in the back. He also offers Osha to wear the Cortosis helmet.

Did Osha join the dark side?

Osha initially claims that she isn't as gullible as her sister Mae and will not wear the Cortosis helmet. But curiosity gets the better of her and she eventually does wear the helmet in the final shot of the episode.

Qimir reveals the Cortosis helmet to be a good defense against the lightsabers as we have already seen in Episode 5 but he also reveals another quality of the helmet. The helmet blocks off the other senses and helps the force come through.

Osha does wear the helmet but that doesn't imply that she has joined the dark side. She has proven her loyalty to the Jedi time and again and while curiosity might have led to her wearing the helmet, she is unlikely to join Qimir who is desperate for a pupil.
