Spoilers for ‘Your Honor’ Episode 2

What if you accidentally killed a man and fled without calling for help? ‘Your Honor’ starts off with one such devastating incident as Adam Desiato (Hunter Doohan) gets embroiled in a hit-and-run where he crashes into a motorbike that Rocco Baxter (Benjamin Hassan Wadsworth) was driving. Little does he know the boy is the son of dangerous crime lord Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg) and his wife Gina Baxter (Hope Davis) who gifted him the motorcycle as a birthday gift.

The first episode ‘Part One’ painted a grim tale when Adam told his father Michael Desiato (Bryan Cranston) of the felony he committed and the righteous judge had no option but to wipe off all evidence of the crime. How far will he go to save his son? The second episode ‘Part Two’ begins on a dreary note. On the death anniversary of his wife, he forges an alibi for their son to cover his track and seeks help from his close friend Charlie (Isiah Whitlock Jr) — who is running for Mayor — to abandon the car.

He conspires a web of lies and gets his lawyer friend Lee Delamere (Carmen Ejogo) and an investigating officer, Nancy Costello (Amy Landecker) involved. In a 49-second promo, Michael tells his friend Charlie about Robin's (his late wife) car. “I need it to disappear,” he tells him. “No questions asked.” Meanwhile, Jimmy Baxter says, “It wasn't a hit-and-run. It was a hit.” In the clip, we also see how Kofi Jones (Lamar Johnson) comes into the picture as he steals the car keys.

Not only does the Showtime series depict the engrossing dilemma of the father-son duo but also hints at a forbidden relationship that will soon surface in the story. Back at school, Adam gazes at Frannie Latimer (Sofia Black-D'Elia) as his friend Wesley (Sampley Barinaga) pats him on the back.

In the next scene, we see him in the classroom as their teacher begins a lesson about Vivian Dorothy Maier. Adam's friend whispers in his ears: “Speaking of that, great t*ts, huh.” She looks at them not paying attention and snaps, “Something to share boys? Come on, don't be shy.” Adam then lends an insight into his thoughts and says, "It kind of alters the relationship with the subject. The photographer isn't holding the camera to her face but is actually looking at the subject. Not through lens, not through anything. If the subject sees her then he can look back. She was a true street photographer. I love Vivian Maier. I really love her.”

That scene seems to depict Adam is having an affair with his teacher. Sofia Black-D'Elia portrays Frannie and she is dubbed as “Adam's girlfriend” in the series. Remember the very first scene of the series? Michael goes for a morning jog and Adam wakes up next to his lover. “You should go home,” he tells her in his groggy voice and she retorts, “Really?” As the two passionately kiss, their dog Django runs into bed. She then sneaks out of his bedroom in the wee hours — that too without wearing any underwear — before Adam's dad comes home.

Frannie in ‘Your Honor’ (Showtime)

The twist does remind us of the series ‘A Teacher’ currently streaming on FX on Hulu — which follows the love story of Claire Wilson (Kate Mara), a young teacher at a suburban Texas high school and her student, Eric Walker (Nick Robinson). Fans are pretty shocked to see that sequence. “Didn’t realize he was sleeping with the teacher,” one wrote and quickly added, “Sorry for the spoiler. I will not speak on anything else.”

Now, if their relationship becomes public knowledge, what will happen to Adam? How will his father react? What will Frannie say when she finds out about Adam's crime? Will the two call their relationship off? What should the viewers expect in the upcoming episodes? Share your theories in the comments below.

Written by Peter Moffat, the second episode aka ‘Part Two’ will premiere December 13, 2020, at 10 pm ET on Showtime Channel. You can also catch the show on Showtime’s official website and on the Showtime App.
