Young Thug says he won't release any music in 2018 in support of his 'deaf brother'

After making a bit of a wave earlier this week when he announced that he would be changing his stage name to "SEX," Young Thug is grabbing headlines again with a much bigger announcement.

The 'Stoner' hit-maker has announced that he will not be making any new music in 2018.

In a recent interview with Hypebeast during the New York Fashion Week festivities, Thug (or SEX if you prefer) briefly shared that he has a deaf brother, and that he was the reason he wouldn't make any new tunes.

"I got a deaf brother. I got a brother that can't hear or talk, so I wanna act deaf for a year so I won't put up any new music this year." he told the interviewer.

Despite the harsh news for fans who are awaiting new material from Young Thug, he does say that he may release his highly-anticipated and long-awaited album, Hy!£UN35 (pronounced 'Hi Tunes') in 2019. "2019, I'm gonna put out probably HiTunes," he remarked during the interview. HiTunes has already been forthcoming for a long time — he’s said that it’s “on the way” as far back as July 2015.

Thug has been quite busy these past two years. In 2017, he release a joint-project with fellow Atlanta rapper, Future, and also appeared on a host of feature verses.

He’s already had a pretty active 2018 so far, though, as he’s hopped on tracks with A-Trak, Trouble, and Shad Da God.
