Spoilers for 'Yellowstone' Season 3 Episode 7 'The Beating'

There has been a twisted theory that has been doing the rounds ever since 'Yellowstone' arrived on television. For the longest time it was only speculation that lacked enough material to substantiate it and so it was just idel chatter. But in Season 3, makers of the show suddenly decided to bring the theory to fruition or perhaps that was always the plan. In a shocking turn of events, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) is revealed to not be a Dutton - he is adopted.

It was supposed to be just another day for Jamie mulling over work and attending meetings when he's required or submit his birth certificate to the office. And one thing leads to another and he is told the truth.

Confused at first, shaken, he confronts his father John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who tells him the truth, no doubt, but does so in a very matter-of-fact manner. He tells Jamie how he shouldn't consider himself lucky and thank his stars for the Duttons who gave him a new lease at life. He adds how had he been left in the custody of his birth father - who beat his birth mother to death when he was only a baby - his life would have turned out to be drastically different.

John's cold demeanor now must hurt even more. When he leaves the room, Jamie is left alone without any support.

In an exclusive interview with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), Ian Bohen, who plays the role of Ryan, tells us that "what Jamie has learned has opened up Pandora's box." "And this is just as any human would know - once you know something, you can't unknow it," he says, adding, "A piece of knowledge is like a virus - it grows and you. You can't get away from [it]."

"It will have to be dealt [with]," he said.

This foreshadows a dark time in the Dutton family. With Jamie now aware of the (possible) real cause behind being at the receiving end of the dislike and disapproval from John, he might take matters in his own hands and act against the family. About time, we'd say. It has been a long time coming.

'Yellowstone' airs on Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on Paramount Network.
