Yeah Yeah Yeahs have delivered a socially distant performance for fans during the coronavirus pandemic, marking vocalist Karen O's second quarantine video since the outbreak. The frontwoman performed 'Our Time' in April from the group's self-titled debut EP. Now, she was joined by bandmates Nick Zinner (guitarist) and Brian Chase (drummer) to deliver an at-home rendition of 'Phenomena' on May 23. The song comes off their 'Show Your Bones' album, released in 2006.

Karen shared the clip on Instagram along with the caption "Somethin’ like a phenomena." She added, "Party anywhere (closet) anytime (any day of the week) safe at home 💥" In the video, we see the frontwoman singing from the interior of her closet, surrounded by gold streamers and with a smoke machine and strobe light. Chase and a masked Zinner video in their instruments via a laptop. Karen exclaimed "F**kin' party on" as the song faded out, ending the performance.

Fans were loving the performance. "Best thing on Instagram all week 🔥😍😊👍 u guys rock," said a fan while another wrote, "This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my life." One fan said, "Your kid gets to witness all the amazing things you do in person 24/7." Another said, "This song still slaps after 15 years!"

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were scheduled to tour this summer, including a headlining set at the Pitchfork Music Fest, according to Rolling Stone, but had to cancel due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Chase wrote on Instagram, “This year we’ve had to cancel shows and it sucks; I’m sad and feeling it." He added, “BUT, there is no other choice – it had to happen out of care and concern for people’s health and well being – no question. At this time (just as much as ever) we are acutely aware of how much our lives are intertwined with each other’s."

He concluded his message with, "From the perspective on stage, the audience is there rejoicing together – gender, race, religion etc. are one; from this perspective, also, ‘time’ stops and what matters most is that feeling of rejoicing – a form of care and concern for people’s health and well being. Can’t wait to play for you and share these moment again!”
