The fourth season of Syfy's 'Wynonna Earp' was one we had waited for two years. The fantasy drama dove right back into the action and the events of the previous two episodes caught up the timeline of 'Wynonna Earp' with the current timeline, well, almost. In the second episode, after titular character Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano), her sister, Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and baby daddy, Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon), made it back home from the Garden of Eden, they returned to a very different Purgatory. The town had changed since it was forcefully evacuated by the Black Badge Division and demons set up house in the abandoned town. The humans of Purgatory returned and the town soon devolved into chaos as demons and humans fought for survival. Thankfully, Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell) and Randy Nedley (Greg Lawson) seem to have survived, but just barely.

We were introduced to a few of the new residents of Purgatory in the previous episode. We don't know where Cleo (Savannah Basley) came from or who she really is, but this character is the new "Magistrate" of Purgatory. She got more questionable as the third episode progressed and something makes us think that Cleo may have an old connection with the Earp family. Cleo also appointed a new Sheriff, Claiborne (Ty Olsson) -- we still are not sure of this character's intentions, but given that he was recruited by Cleo, he cannot be that good. Meanwhile, there's a new bar in town called the Glory Hole which is owned by a sexy unnamed vampire played by Noam Jenkins. This vampire seems to be unusually fascinated with Doc.

Before Wynonna and the others can begin to solve Purgatory's current issues, they first need to learn what those issues are. The synopsis for this week's episode simply states, "Wynonna faces down an ancient enemy as Waverly and Nicole search for help." Earlier, we might have expected that ancient enemy to be Rachel Valdez (Martina Ortiz-Luis) or her late mother, who was a scientist at the Black Badge Division. From the comics, Valdez was an ancient Mayan immortal who was an antagonist to Wynonna, but the situation going on the TV series seems to be moving differently. While we love Rachel -- who seems to have fit in with Nicole, Wynonna and the others well --, a part of us still remains suspicious of her. Where was she after Wynonna went to Purgatory? We know that she returned to Nicole after a period of time, so we would like to know what happened in that absence before we determine whether Rachel is a true ally or not.

In the promo for the episode, we see that Jeremy Chetri (Varun Saranga) will have a proper presence -- and not just being impersonated by Eve. Jeremy seems to be working for the Black Badge Division now and while Nicole had not heard from him in months, it was revealed at the end of the previous episode that he was working as security in Purgatory's borders. The promo shows Jeremy telling Wynonna that a lot of bad demons came into the town and that Black Badge needs her.

We also see Wynonna encounter a sickly looking demon with most of its hair pulled out and markings on its face. Wynonna says, "I know you," pauses, and then says, "And you know me." This leaves room for many theories and we have no idea who this could be. One thing is for certain though, the reveal is set to blow our minds. When Wynonna screams, "Doc," is she screaming for his help or at him in horror?

'Wynonna Earp' airs on Syfy on Sunday nights at 10/9c.
