'Wrestlemania 36': Fans diss Strowman's championship win against Goldberg, call it 'scripted and pathetic'
Braun Strowman wasn't exactly a champion material when he replaced Roman Reigns in the WWE Universal Championship match with Goldberg. However, in what comes as a major shocker, Strowman pipped his opponent with four electric Running Powerslams for a win. Fans, on their part, are still trying to digest the fact that Strowman claimed the championship.
A few of the initial reactions on Twitter included "What boring match so predictable. Just retire GOLDBERG", "Pretty trash show so far. Should’ve saved this garbage", "That was the worst match of the night", "This match was literally 2 moves" and "Worst championship match of all time, and for @Goldberg going out like a jobber was horrible for business". What followed this was a rant against Strowman.
"I'm so disgusted with this win of that loser Strowman, he's a horrible human being and a terrible wrestler. Can't wait to see Roman Reigns get the title from him AND I HATE ROMAN REIGNS," tweeted a fan.
"I like Strowman, but that's just stupid," wrote one while another said, "It just went from bad to hillbilly bad great..."
"Think we can all agree the entire night was shit, we'll see what you got for night 2," opined one of the fans who'd watched the evening's proceedings.
"That match was proubly the worst I have ever seen" a fan said.
"Well, the Goldberg and Undertaker were terrible too lol. This was bad. I like Braun winning but not like this. Would have been cool if was against," tweeted another.
"Eight minutes? SERIOUSLY??? GTFOH" exclaimed a fan. Not that Strowman would be complaining. This was his first world championship. He had won the Intercontinental Championship once and the Raw Tag Team Championships twice.
Some thought this win wasn't forever. "Too bad he will drop the title 2 seconds after things get back to somewhat normal states" a tweet read.
"Pathetic and scripted" was another tweet that was seconded by many. For this fan, it was pure resentment, but there was a silver lining: "Well at least it's back on TV full time... For now".
