'Worst Cooks in America' Season 18 premiered on Sunday night and while it began with 16 contestants, two were eliminated on the first day after their dish failed to live up to the mark.

This season, famed chef Alton Brown joined the series to team up with primary judge Chef Anne Burrell. Alton will be the mentor for the blue team.

Alton who is used to having the best food is now judging the worst cooks in America, and his snarky remarks towards their food are something you wouldn't want to miss.

A total of 16 contestants entered the kitchen vying for the $25,000 and hoping for a chance to be the best among the worst. For their first challenge, they prepared a meal of their own choice, and it turned out to be a mess.

Selecting their teams, Alton revealed he is choosing his team based on their abject, desperate and borderline helplessness.

For their main challenge, the contestants from the blue team were instructed to cook chicken soup and chicken skin sandwich while the red team had to cook a bowl of big fat chicken soup and grilled cheese sandwich.

They had 60 minutes to prepare the dish and while the contestants tried their best, some did get their food burned, undercooked, salty and spicy. Standing out among everyone and winning the challenge was Leslie from team red and Leo from team blue.

Sadly two contestants also had to be sent home. One from team blue and one from team red. The contestant eliminated from team red was 30-year-old Dakota while the contestant eliminated from team blue was Joe.

The main challenge dish was the only dish Joe prepared because, during the first challenge, he had a medical emergency and had to go to the hospital. Now that two contestants are eliminated, we can't wait to see who among the 14 will make it all the way through.

'Worst Cooks in America' Season 18 airs every Sunday night only on Food Network. Check your local listings for more information.
