Woman leaves 9-yr-old boy alone for 9 days without food, water or electricity in home reeking of faeces
ESCAMBIA, FLORIDA: A woman has been arrested for allegedly leaving a child home alone for nine days with no food, no water, or electricity.
The 39-year-old woman, Autumn Lee Beedee, has been charged with child neglect after the boy was found inside a Florida home. She was booked at the Escambia County Jail on Saturday, February 29, the Pensacola News Journal reports. The child had been living with a male adult since December, but alone recently.
The woman's arrest came after the Escambia County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check at a private residence on February 14 and found a nine-year-old boy living alone in a house that had "a heavy odor of fecal matter". Witnesses had shared with the authorities that the boy who's age had been redacted from the report, had no adult supervision, running water, or electricity between February 5 and February 14.
Once contacted by the deputy, the boy stated that both the electricity and the water had been cut off as the bills had not been paid. This forced him to reach out to friends and neighbors for food and water. Beedee was aware that the child was living alone in the home but did not make any contact with him since December 2019.
On February 14, she left some pastries on the front porch for him but the child did not see her that day. The child had found the pastries though Beedee had not gone inside. He found out from a friend that Beedee had dropped off the items. The boy shared that he had been living with an adult male till February 5 when the man got incarcerated.
The boy's relationship to the male is not known and his relationship with Beedee was redacted from the report as well. Beedee was released from prison on Sunday after posting $5,000 bond, online jail records reveal. Other records show that Beedee had earlier been jailed for parole violations and also driving under the influence.
