ASHINGTON, NORTHUMBERLAND: A woman reportedly decapitated her 73-year-old mother with a knife and scissors before removing her head and kissing it in front of a family friend.

Odessa Tammy Carey, 36, allegedly beat her mother Odessa Carey Sr.,73, to death at their Ashington, Northumberland, residence before using a knife and scissors to cut off her head, cut into her abdomen, and remove her brain, according to Mirror.

Odessa allegedly carried her mother's severed head around in a bag before taking it out in front of a family friend and kissing it.

According to the report, the 73-year-old's headless corpse was found at her home lying on her bed, while her brain was in the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Carey's head was found at a separate address where Odessa was found hiding in the loft.

The horror daughter has since been charged with murder but did not attend trial as she was too unwell.

That said, the fatal head injuries may have been caused by a mallet, the court heard.

Prosecutor Nicholas Lumley QC said Carey's head was removed using "knives and scissors" after her death.

"Her body was then turned over and her abdomen cut open, in the shape of a cross," he explained. "Her head was then taken into the bathroom, where the brain was removed from the skull and the mallet was washed."

Odessa had reportedly taken her mother's head to a friend's allotment the day before her body was found, the court heard.

"She was sitting in his shed. This time she was wiping up blood from her hands and her arms using one or more baby wipes," Lumley said. "She had a bag with her and from the bag, she carefully took a parcel, of sorts, the contents wrapped in a pillowcase in a towel, from which she produced a human head."

"Odessa Carey spoke and kissed her mother's forehead before carefully re-wrapping the head in its shroud, putting it back into the bag," he added.

Odessa's DNA was found on the handle of the mallet, Lumley noted.

"The head was wrapped up in the bathroom before being taken from the house," he added.

Meanwhile, the trial, which is expected to last for weeks, continues.
