Racing fans call for alcohol ban after woman and toddler caught in 50-man brawl at Haydock Park racecourse
Haydock Park in Merseyside witnessed to an ugly brawl involving 50 odd men just ahead of the final race on Saturday night. In the fight which broke out on the lawn in front of the main grandstand, a bench was knocked over, but most disturbingly, a woman and a toddler who were sitting on the bench appeared to have got caught up in the tussle.
"It was something out of a horror movie. It was absolutely disgusting and they ruined the day for everybody. Up until then, it was a fantastic day," witness Oliver Hodgson tells MEA Worldwide (MEAWW), adding, “It seemed to breakout over nothing, or at least what looked like nothing. Looked like drunken behaviour”
According to eyewitnesses and video evidence, the brawl started when two groups of men at the Hayock Park in Merseyside started trading blows. The Jockey Club officials were in discussions with the police to understand the specifics of the brawl and what led to it. “We take a zero-tolerance position on anti-social behavior. The perpetrators were ejected at the time and we are continuing to work with the Police on this matter,” a Haydock spokesperson told Daily Mail.
