LONDON, ENGLAND: Season 1 of 'Criminal Record' is earning praise from both critics and viewers, generating excitement for a potential Season 2 in the future. While there is no official confirmation, Peter Capaldi has hinted at the possibility of a season renewal.

'Criminal Record' is set in London and portrays two detectives entangled in a high-profile murder case. Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty (Peter Capaldi) comes with years of experience and great connections.

Detective Sergeant June Lenker is a young determined and focused woman in the early stages of her career. An anonymous call brings them together and the two must work together to correct the injustice done in the past.

'Criminal Record' Season 2 renewal status

Speaking on 'Criminal Record' Season 2, Capaldi himself made it clear that there are a lot of possibilities still floating around out there for the future.

“Who knows? We’re just excited that we’ve done it and it’s out there, it’s been a real journey getting it to the screen. Working with Apple has been great but it’s a whole new world … When I was working with BBC or ITV, a show might get sold to Australia or Hong Kong or whatever,” he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

He also added, “Now Apple just presses a button, and 130 countries all over the world get the show. Instantly. It’s a whole different ballgame for me. But I’m delighted, at my age, to still be part of it.”

Is 'Criminal Record' Season 1 worth watching?

'Criminal Record' boasts remarkable cinematography, standout performances, and a gripping central rivalry.

Nevertheless, the central mystery loses momentum swiftly, testing the patience of viewers. While the show maintains enough intrigue to retain a weekly audience, it falls short of being the most captivating police procedural available.

'Criminal Record' Episodes 1 and 2 are streaming on Apple TV+.
