Will 'Insidious 5' have an origin story?

In her recent interview with Collider, actor Bryne explains how the idea of coming back to the origin story came from actor-director Wilson. She said, “He really wanted to make it about the origin story, about the original cast, about those characters, and the effect on the family. Then also to delve into the classic horror stuff, and all the tropes and all of the things the fans love, to give the fans what they want, too. So it was really cool to reunite with Ty [Simpkins], and that was wild revisiting that. I got a thrill out of that. It was a lot of fun.”

'Insidious': The Franchise

Leigh Whannell is the American director of the horror film series Insidious. 'Insidious' (2010), 'Insidious: Chapter 2' (2013), 'Insidious: Chapter 3' (2015), 'Insidious: The Last Key (2018)', and 'Insidious: Fear the Dark' (2023) are among the movies in the franchise. On a combined $26.5 million budget, the movies have made approximately $542 million in worldwide box office revenue.

The first two movies follow a married couple whose son inexplicably falls into a coma and develops into a ghostly vessel in the astral plane. As a result, the couple is relentlessly tormented by demons from the forbidden realm known as the Further until they deny the family what they desire most: life. The third movie, a prequel, centers on the same psychic who assisted the family; this time she helps a little girl who summons the dead, and the fourth movie follows her as her own family starts to experience hauntings. The fifth movie centers on their college-bound son Dalton, who is plagued by ghosts from his past.
