With Trump staying adamant, his inner team may ask Ivanka or Jared Kushner to convince him to vacate office
President Donald Trump is in no mood to give up even if trends have shown him trailing against Democratic contender Joe Biden in this year’s presidential election. On Friday, November 6, the former vice president was seen taking crucial leads in Pennsylvania and Georgia and if those states went to him, there was little chance left for the incumbent to return to office. But the maverick Trump has defied all to say that he is the one who is winning the election and will not concede.
Trump’s attack on the electoral process on Wednesday, November 4, has already caused a widespread controversy with even the Republicans criticizing his stance. And now, with the commander-in-chief being more stubborn, his team at the White House has struggled to assign somebody the million-dollar task of telling the president that he is on his way to lose the presidency as the former veep was inching closer to win.
According to a report in the CNN, Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who has also been diagnosed with coronavirus, has not tried to teach Trump the reality and has rather fed his unrealistic claim that the poll has been stolen, the president’s allies have become concerned that somebody has to bell the cat now. And it was cited reports to say that Ivanka Trump or Jared Kushner -- the president’s daughter and son-in-law, respectively, and his senior advisers, could be given the all difficult task.
Going by the gesture of the president’s nine-year-old grand-daughter Arabella who flashed a victory sign while leaving Washington DC home in a car with her mother Ivanka, however, it is difficult to say whether the president’s daughter would be thinking as realistically as others outside the family. Ivanka was seen posting a tweet backing her father on Friday, saying: “He will always go to the mat fighting for the hardworking men & women of this great Country!” Ivanka has also compared his father to Sir Winston Churchill in the dying days of the campaign, something Trump has also done at other times to brag about his achievements at par with the wartime British premier.

Biden’s support comes from Big Business, Big Banks & Big Pharma
But no matter what the president’s family was thinking, members of the GOP were worried that Trump will not go quietly and were also discussing actions that they need to take to see an orderly transition if Biden’s victory is confirmed. To the utter dismay of many, the president is reportedly planning to hold a victory rally this weekend. According to the New York Times, Trump’s advisers were in disagreement on what he should do next till the final vote counts were revealed. Some talks were even held about him holding a rally in the weekend, the daily cited one person informed about the talks as saying. The GOP was thinking about convincing Trump about the advantages of him bowing out quiety and if needed, he could come back to compete for the top office again in 2024.
Who else can convince Trump?
Among others who could tell Trump to step down peacefully is First Lady Melania Trump but given her enigmatic presence in the White House, nobody has a realistic idea over what she is thinking.
Former president George W Bush, the only living former Republican president at the moment, could also be another who could show Trump the way forward. But given the fact that he doesn’t have a great relationship with the incumbent, even that possibility might seem distant.
Bob Dole, the 97-year-old former Senate majority leader who had an unsuccessful run against Bill Clinton in the 1996 presidential election, could be another person the GOP might look up to accomplish the difficult task of convincing Trump. Dole, who endorsed Trump for the presidency in 2016 and presumably backed him this time as well, may be a reliable voice to break through to Trump.
Whoever it is who eventually bells the cat, the mission is difficult.
