Amy Coney Barrett, on Monday, October 26, 2020, was confirmed to the Supreme Court by a divided Senate leaving scores of liberals extremely angry.

Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer reacted to the outcome saying, "The American people will never forget this blatant act of bad faith. They will never forget your complete disregard for their voices, for the people standing on line right now and voting their choice, not your choice." He later tweeted, "The truth is: This nomination is part of a decades-long effort to tilt the courts towards the right to accomplish through the courts what Republicans could never accomplish through Congress. Democrats will never stop fighting for Americans’ health care and rights and freedoms," followed by, "Senate Republicans are breaking 231 years of precedent and becoming the first majority to confirm a Supreme Court Justice this close to a presidential election day. Democrats will never stop fighting for Americans’ health care, rights, and freedoms."

Reactions

Twitter users and liberals reacted to Coney Barrett's confirmation in a visceral manner. One user, in response to Schumer, tweeted, "Retire so someone willing to actually fight can take your place," while another, blaming both Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, wrote, "Trump has a 'legal' pass to re-election now...and neither Pelosi or Schumer did a THING to try & delay this." A different user, referring to Schumer, said, "No, Donnie, this man is a coward," and then continued, "Imagine this chucklef**k honestly thinking Mitch and his zombie hands gives a f**k about credibility when he’s gonna dismantle everything we care about while people die. I at least begrudgingly respect Mitch’s unbridled grasping for power. Schumer just makes me sick."

Another joked, "When they go low, we go, 'Okay."" Asking for Pelosi and Schumer to be replaced, a user tweeted, "The first thing that Democrats in Congress need to do differently next year is to replace Schumer and Pelosi. It’s time for effective leadership who will also play to win rather than doing nothing but nibbling around the edges," while another, blaming the Democrats for the outcome, said, "Democrats had no guts for years in regards to their governing. THIS is their fault. Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, they all wanted to play the middle aisle and keep begging Republicans to work with them. When GOP got power, they went to WORK and didn’t care about the Dems. DEMS FAULT!"

Some defended Schumer, like the official Palmer Report handle that said, "If you’re blaming Chuck Schumer and the Democrats for the fact that Barrett was confirmed, then you have absolutely no understanding of how politics works. Go take a civics class or something. Seriously, stop blaming the democrats for things they literally couldn’t have stopped," while another wrote, "The people that are blaming Chuck Schumer for the confirmation of Amy Barrett are seriously dumb. I see comments like 'he could of impeach Barr or Trump'. Do they not know how the Senate works, if you wanted to stop this you should have voted for the email lady. #SCOTUS"
