It looks like Emily Cooper's (Lily Collins) romantic life will take a dramatic turn in 'Emily in Paris' Season 5. At first, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), was positioned as Emily's main love interest, but the story soon turned into a love triangle with the arrival of Alfie Peterson (Lucien Laviscount). Season 4 Part 2 turned things into a love square with the addition of Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini). While Alfie was largely absent in Part 2, the Season 5 trailer hints that he will have a bigger role, leaving fans wondering if he and Emily will finally reunite—or if Mindy Chen (Ashley Park) and Alfie might end up together.

Hinting at what's ahead for 'Emily in Paris' Season 5, Laviscount said love is in the air "for everyone" in the upcoming season, which premieres Thursday,  December 18, and revealed that fans will see a new side of his character. "I think this season we see a little bit of a different side of Alfie, I think more of an adventurous [side], I'll put it that way," Laviscount further said, adding, "Alfie's out there… I'm holding back. It's crazy," as per PEOPLE.

Laviscount further says a reunion between Alfie and Emily is still possible in 'Emily in Paris,' sharing, "I think anything's possible, of course… I think there's always a kind of scope in the Emily in Paris universe for anything to happen." He added, "I wouldn't write them off," noting that past relationships can always be revisited. Laviscount further said that fans should "strap in" because the story "goes left, so far left, and a little bit right this season." He added that even the cast was caught off guard, saying, "I didn't know what to expect… and I don't think anyone could have foreseen that coming."

On the other hand, in the trailer, Mindy, played by Ashley Park, can be seen dining out with Alfie. Then things appear to heat up as the pair dances and almost locks lips later on in the short clip. This sparked questions if a forbidden romance between them could happen. In an interview with TODAY, Park was asked what's going on between Alfie and Mindy, who broke up with her boyfriend Nicolas (Paul Forman) at the end of Season 4. The host teased Park about the on-screen makeout in the trailer, to which she playfully responded, asking, “What made you think we were about to make out?” The host insisted, “It was very close.”

However, fans will have to wait until Season 5 premieres on Netflix on December 18 to find out if Mindy and Alfie are romantically involved and how Emily would react to such a pairing. But Park offered up the following teaser in the meantime, "I also think they have a great friendship, and that's what we see," she said, adding that the pair was dancing, so it was natural that they'd be physically close together.
