Who are Vic and Christine? ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 10 sends one couple to Malibu, not Mexico — here's why
Netflix's 'Love Is Blind' Season 10 is grabbing major headlines as 32 singles enter the pods to find their one true love. Hosted by real-life couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the first six episodes of the dating reality show have been released, and the first couple to get engaged is Vic St. John and Christine Hamilton. While most engaged couples head to Mexico for their honeymoon, Vic and Christine ditched that tradition and the cameras and instead went on a private trip to Malibu.
From the get-go, Vic and Christine seemed like a match made in heaven and became the first couple to get engaged in 'Love Is Blind' Season 10. To make it even more special, the couple had no connections with anyone else in the pods, focusing only on each other, creating a rare but heartwarming love story. So it made sense that they were chosen for their own getaway, as they had no unresolved issues with other cast members from the pods.
Explaining the decision, 'Love Is Blind' executive producer Chris Coelen told TODAY.com, "We've never had the resources to send more than six couples to Mexico, but this season, we felt so good about the couples that, for the very first time, we chose to follow seven of them, producing the biggest season in Love Is Blind history! In order to make this work, we had to offer one couple the chance to go to Malibu on their own getaway."
Coelen further explained the purpose of the romantic getaways, sharing, "While the romantic getaways are a chance to not only see if the couples can turn their emotional connection into a physical one, they are also a chance to address outstanding feelings and issues with others they may have dated in the pods.” Christine and Vic were offered the chance to go to Malibu because they "had fewer intersecting relationships with the other remaining couples, so we offered them the chance to go to Malibu, and we were absolutely thrilled that they accepted."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Coelen shared how Christine and Vic reacted to traveling separately from the rest of the cast. "It was exactly the reaction that you would want, which is that they just were in love and felt like they wanted to spend time together," he said, while adding, "And I don't think it really mattered to them whether they were going to go off and have time in Malibu or Mexico. They just really wanted to spend time with each other. And when I explained to them the reason they were going to send them to Malibu before sending them back to Ohio, they thought that it made total sense."
