'The Bachelorette' 2022: Rachel gets her rose turned down by 3 men, fans call it 'awkward and cruel'
With Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey striving to find their true love, the new season of 'The Bachelorette' is sure to be unlike any other. Fans had hardly adjusted to the new season's concept when they received a surprise teaser clip showing Rachel being rejected by not one, not two, but three guys!
After the episode aired on ABC, the long-running dating competition series tweeted a new preview clip in which Rachel and Gabby are shown discussing their goals, fears, and dreams as they begin the most unusual season ever of the show. Rachel exclaims, "I have no doubt, we are going to meet our fiancés," as a preview of the next 19th season of the show appears on the screen. "We're figuring out things as we go," Gabby adds. While the two are optimistic about their historic quest for love, the path there is fraught with drama. In the teaser, the two front-runners are immediately set against one another when a participant, James Clarke chooses to accept Gabby's rose rather than Rachel's.

A stunned Rachel hears James remark, "I'm sorry, I'm here for Gabby." The decision to choose the one lucky guy they want to spend the rest of their lives with is met with many tears, bewilderment, and sadness as Rachel, Gabby, and their 29 suitors travel around the northern coast of Europe in quest of a soulmate.
The men can also be seen discussing how they would pick between the two bachelorettes in the video. The guys gradually realize that there will be times when the girls would want them to choose between the two as their decision-making becomes more difficult. As they appeared to be indecisive when deciding between Rachel and Gabby, no one appears to be prepared to choose a lane and stay in it. Rachel also lets Gabby know that the men are in charge and are aware of it. The scenario is a "nightmare," according to Gabby.
The preview also shows the girls breaking down after the men they choose to offer their roses decline them. They wonder how they will fall in love when they feel unwanted. Aside from James, Alec Garza and Termayne Harper appeared to be two more guys who declined Rachel's roses in the hopes of getting a shot with Gabby. Hayden Markowitz can also be seen in the clip professing his feelings for Rachel and explaining why he can't pursue a relationship with Gabby.
Fans were startled to see the girls' roses being turned down as soon as the teaser played on their screens. They turn to social media to share their feelings. One fan wrote how they are trying hard to forget the fact that Rachel got turned down by not but three men. They wrote: "Trying desperately to erase the previews of 3+ men turning down Rachel’s rose from my mind #TheBachelorette."

Another fan felt that James turning down Rachel's rose was quite disrespectful. They wrote: "The guy that said he can't accept Rachel's rose, Gabby should dump him because he intentionally hurt and embarrassed Rachel. He should have told Rachel during their dates that he was there for Gabby instead of leading her on to think it was mutual #TheBachelorette."

Some fans question Rachel's choice of handing out a rose to someone when there's no mutual connection. They tweeted: "Why would they set themselves up like that? You only offer a rose if you felt a mutual connection. Why not just flat out ask them who they like. I liked how Jordan V said he was here for Rachel #TheBachelorette."

Fans feel it's unfair for the bachelorettes to get turned down on their own show. A tweet read: "Oh hell no. We’re not doing this. The men should have to accept the rose offered or leave, or pick a track to make their intention known. We can’t have the bachelorettes facing rejection every week on their own show. #TheBachelorette."
