LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' premieres on Disney+ on Sunday, June 16, 2024, offering viewers a journey to the end of the High Republic Era in the 'Star Wars' universe, a pinnacle for the Jedi order.

In the series, Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) investigates the murders of Jedi alongside a former padawan learner. 

Created by Leslye Headland, the series unfolds around a century before 'Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace'. It promises to provide a long-awaited exploration of the origins of the dark side.

While the villain of the series is still a mystery, fans are already intrigued and speculating about the events and their potential repercussions on the 'Star Wars' universe.

The official synopsis of 'The Acolyte' reads, "An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems..."

Amandla rose to prominence with her performance as Rue in the popular young-adult series 'The Hunger Games' in 2012 and has not looked back since.

Her film 'As You Are' won a special jury prize at the Sundance Festival. Released in 2016, the film delves into the realm of teen angst drama.

In 2020, the talented actress starred opposite Andre Holland in the Netflix series 'The Eddy' in 2020. Before that, she also starred in the 2018 movie 'The Hate U Give' as Starr Carter and 'Bodies Bodies Bodies' as Sophie in 2022. 

'The Acolyte' provides her with the opportunity to join the 'Star Wars' franchise, where she can leave her mark alongside industry legends.

Jodie Turner-Smith starred in the acclaimed series 'The Last Ship' in the role of Sgt. Azime Kandie, a performance that propelled her to household name status.

Her performances in 'Anne Boleyn' in the titular role were widely appreciated. She also received plaudits for her performance in 'Queen and Slim', where she starred as the Queen.
