LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' premieres on Disney+ on Sunday, June 16, 2024, offering viewers a journey to the end of the High Republic Era in the 'Star Wars' universe, a pinnacle for the Jedi order.

In the series, Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) investigates the murders of Jedi alongside a former padawan learner. 

Created by Leslye Headland, the series unfolds around a century before 'Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace'. It promises to provide a long-awaited exploration of the origins of the dark side.

While the villain of the series is still a mystery, fans are already intrigued and speculating about the events and their potential repercussions on the 'Star Wars' universe.

The official synopsis of 'The Acolyte' reads, "An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems..."

Amandla Stensberg as Mae/Osha

Amandla rose to prominence with her performance as Rue in the popular young-adult series 'The Hunger Games' in 2012 and has not looked back since.

Her film 'As You Are' won a special jury prize at the Sundance Festival. Released in 2016, the film delves into the realm of teen angst drama.

In 2020, the talented actress starred opposite Andre Holland in the Netflix series 'The Eddy' in 2020. Before that, she also starred in the 2018 movie 'The Hate U Give' as Starr Carter and 'Bodies Bodies Bodies' as Sophie in 2022. 

'The Acolyte' provides her with the opportunity to join the 'Star Wars' franchise, where she can leave her mark alongside industry legends.

Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon

Dafne Keen, a British-Spanish actress, has made a significant impact in her relatively short but impactful career. She shot to fame when she played the role of Laura in the movie 'Logan' in 2017. 

She took on the titular role in the 2020 film 'Ana' and later starred in the acclaimed series 'His Dark Materials' as Lyra Silvertongue. 

She also showcases her talent in the podcast series 'The Battersea Poltergeist' as Shirley Hitchings. 

Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya

Jodie Turner-Smith starred in the acclaimed series 'The Last Ship' in the role of Sgt. Azime Kandie, a performance that propelled her to household name status.

Her performances in 'Anne Boleyn' in the titular role were widely appreciated. She also received plaudits for her performance in 'Queen and Slim', where she starred as the Queen.

She also played God in three episodes of 'Sex Education'. 

Lee Jung-jae as Master Sol

Lee Jung-Jae rose to prominence with his portrayal of Seong Gi-hun in the iconic Netflix series 'Squid Game', which achieved cult status among fans worldwide.

Lee Jung-Jae also delivered notable performances as Park Pyong-ho in 'Hunt' and as the detective in the highly acclaimed series 'Blue Birthday'.

In 'The Acolyte' he plays a Jedi master called Sol and stars as one of the main protagonists. 

Manny Jacinto as Qimir 

Manny Jacinto gained global recognition for his portrayal of Lt Billy 'Fritz' Avalone in the iconic blockbuster 'Top Gun: Maverick'. Additionally, he also played the role of Logan in 'I Want You Back'. 

He had previously portrayed the character of Yao in the acclaimed series 'Nine Perfect Strangers'.

Charlie Barnett as Yord Fandar

Charlie Barnett is an American actor who shot to fame after his performance in 'Chicago Fire' as Peter Mills. He made appearances in 66 episodes of the series playing a major character in an acclaimed series. 

He played Air Force MP #2 in 'Men in Black 3' in 2012 and also starred in the popular series 'Russian Doll' as Alan Zaveri.
