'Dark Matter': Cast and character guide on who's playing who in Apple TV+'s sci-fi series
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Shortly after the conclusion of 'Constellation', Apple TV+ is gearing up to present another mind-bending sci-fi series titled 'Dark Matter'.
In the last week of March, Apple TV+ dropped the finale episode of Noomi Rapace starrer 'Constellation', an eight-episodic series based on the concept of multiple realities.
'Dark Matter' is built on similar premise where a physicist is trapped in an alternate version of his life eager to return to his original life.
Ahead of the series' premiere on May 8, 2024, here's everything you need to know about the key cast members:
Joel Edgerton as Jason Dessen
'Dark Matter' features Australian actor John Edgerton in the central role of Jason Dessen, a physicist based in Chicago warped in another reality who struggles to return to his original life as his alternate self tries to harm his family.
Edgerton is best known for featuring in ‘The Secret Life of Us' (2001–02), 'Attack of the Clones' (2002), 'Animal Kingdom' (2010) and 'The Great Gatsby' (2013).
He has also written, directed and starred in 'The Gift' (2015), a critically acclaimed psychological thriller film for which he earned a nomination for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directing.
Jennifer Connelly as Daniela Dessen
American actress Jennifer Connelly will feature as the female lead opposite Joel Edgerton. She is set to play Daniela Dessen, wife of Jason in 'Dark Matter'.
Connelly is the recipient of the Critics' Choice Movie Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her portrayal of Alicia Nash in Ron Howard's biopic 'A Beautiful Mind' (2001).
Her other notable works include 'Hulk' (2003), 'He's Just Not That Into You' (2009), and Tom Cruise starrer 'Top Gun: Maverick' (2022).
Alice Braga as Amanda
Alice Braga, 41, is a Brazilian actress who rose to fame after appearing opposite Will Smith in 'I Am Legend' (2007). Since then, she has been a part of popular projects such as 'Predators' (2010), ‘The Shack' (2017), and 'The Suicide Squad' (2021).
She will play the role of Amanda in Apple TV+'s upcoming series. Further details of her character are not yet revealed.
Jimmi Simpson as Ryan

Jimmi Simpson, 48, is the recipient of the BAFTA TV Awards, Primetime Emmy Awards and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. In his acting career, he has featured in films such as 'Zodiac' (2007), and 'Date Night' (2010).
On television, he has appeared in 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' (2005–2023), 'The Newsroom' (2014), and 'House of Cards' (2014–2015).
He will appear as Ryan in Apple TV+'s 'Dark Matter'.
Other cast members include Oakes Fegley as Charlie Dessen, Dayo Okeniyi as Leighton, and Amanda Brugel as Blaire.
