Who killed Sazz Pataki? Why Only Murders in the Building's fan-favorite character is the perfect victim for Season 4
Contains spoilers for 'Only Murders in the Building'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Season 3 of Hulu's 'Only Murders in the Building' ended on a major cliffhanger with Sazz Pataki's murder that will prompt the podcasting trio to solve it in Season 4.
Steve Martin as Charles-Haden Savage, Martin Short as Oliver Putnam, and Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora make a perfect team of investigators, whose knowledge of true-crime podcasts helps solve murder cases.
In the final moments of 'Only Murders in the Building' Season 3, Charles's stunt double, Sazz Pataki was assassinated. Since then, fans have been restless to know who killed her and why!
Sazz Pataki is a flawed yet lovable character in 'Only Murders in the Building'
Portrayed by Jane Lynch, Sazz Pataki has been a recurring character in three seasons of 'Only Murders in the Building'.
She is a little self-absorbed and likes to narrate stories of herself and all the stunts she did for Charles. She also carries an image of dating everyone Charles dates after him. At one point, she even went to Charles for sympathy after her girlfriend, who she had taken from him, left her.
Despite all this, Sazz has remained a very likeable character in the show. Fans choose to ignore her flaws for her good traits. She is funny, intelligent and quite likeable. Topping them all, she has a good heart and holds highest regards for Charles even though he has a low opinion on himself.
Sazz Pataki's killer will be revealed in 'Only Murders in the Building' Season 4
Viewers are as clueless as the trio about Sazz Pataki's killer, which leaves us eagerly anticipating for Season 4. Showrunners didn't offer even a single hint of who might be the killer, which makes the mystery even more intriguing.
Fans have been coming up with their own theories of who might be Sazz Pataki's killer. Several fans believe that Jan could have killed Sazz as one of them states on Reddit, "If the killer was a character from previous seasons it's either Jan or Joy."
A fan adds, "Jan being the one behind this would make sense—or if they go a weird route and say it was actually the wrong apartment."
Another fan theory suggests Tobert as the killer. A Reddit user wrote, "Tobert left the party just before the scene cuts to the trio with Sazz, and the mystery text from Joy. Sazz is shot soon after. Tobert is a hitman or undercover operative."
"It's hard to see any of the current cast as professional snipers. Maybe Tobert. One of them could have hired one," wrote another fan of the show.
It is also possible that Sazz Pataki may not have been the actual target of the killer. If you recall, she was shot through the window at Charles's apartment. So, there's a strong possibility that the assassin actually intended to to kill Charles but since Sazz is his body double, he may have mistaken her for him due to the distance.
Will Jane Lynch be a part of 'Only Murders in the Building' Season 4?
Although Lynch's character is killed in Season 3's finale, fans can rejoice as she will be returning in Season 4. Wondering how?
Well, her character will receive the same treatment as Paul Rudd's Ben, who appeared in flashbacks after his murder.
Jane Lynch confirmed her appearance in Season 4 during an interview with People. She said, "Well, I'm the murder victim, which is not a tease. And so I have some really great flashbacks... I don't want to give it away though, but I'm in it a lot. I'm in five out of 10 episodes, so I'm excited."
