PEARL ISLANDS, PANAMA: There is a significant disadvantage to sleeping nude in the wild. And these 'Naked and Afraid' participants are living proof that parasites love feeding on human genitals.

Will these castaways make it off the island alive? Nine former cast members of Discovery Channel's hit reality series 'Naked and Afraid' are stranded on a lonely island in the middle of the ocean in the latest spinoff. They'll have to rely completely on what they discover in the surrounding area to live 21 days and make it to the extraction location without tools or maps. In the season premiere of 'Naked and Afraid: Castaways', the group was dropped off on a lonely island "in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean" that is "hundreds of miles from civilization."

Who is Andrew Shayde?

Andrew Shayde of Lexington is one of nine cast members aiming to survive Discovery Channel's 'Naked and Afraid: Castaways'. Andrew has been crafting his adventures and storylines since he began making comics in 2014. He believes his fascination with superheroes and adventure began as a child with action toys. Comic books provide him with an escape from reality.

Andrew was born on June 15, 1981, in Louisville, Kentucky, and relocated to Lexington shortly thereafter, where he attended Tates Creek High School. For nearly 12 years, Andrew was a nationally competitive cheerleader with a school and an All-Star Program. He is a past National Champion and has been placed in the top five in the country nine times. Andrew was named IMTA International Male Dancer of the Year in Los Angeles in 2004.

As a child, he began performing in theater and appeared in over 35 plays and musicals. At the age of 19, he worked as a stunt actor at the Pirate Adventure in Orlando, where he was trained in high falls, stage combat, and sword fighting. Andrew also worked as an actor on Universal Studios' 'JAWS' Attraction. He returned to Kentucky to attend Eastern Kentucky University after finishing his employment in Orlando. Soon after, he was cast in the third season of CBS's 'The Amazing Race', which won an Emmy for Best Reality Competition.

Andrew has appeared in five indie films, as well as national and local commercials and catalogs throughout the United States and Europe. He has also appeared in publications such as USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, The Advocate, and Instinct Magazine.

In early 2008, he worked full-time in HIV testing and counseling in Dayton, Ohio, and was traveling the country as the host of a Gay Travel Series named 'Take On!' that was set to be published in the summer of 2008. Andrew is also well-known as a public speaker who raises awareness and educates the public about the LGBTQ+. Andrew has performed at New York City Pride as well as events for Paramount, Mello Yellow, Fox, and other East Coast universities.

He does it as a pleasant side job in addition to his 20-plus years of employment in charitable work. He is currently working with Arbor Adolescent Services and at-risk adolescents in Lexington. Andrew formerly assisted patients living with HIV and AIDS. Andrew enjoys real-life adventures as well. So much so that he's stripping down to nothing as a cast member on Discovery's 'Naked and Afraid Castaways'.

He began his career in reality television on 'The Amazing Race' 20 years ago and is now a three-time cast member on various editions of 'Naked and Afraid'. Andrew admits to being afraid several times in the episode, but his greatest worry is not experiencing life to the fullest.
