White Alabama editor who wanted KKK to 'clean out DC and raid gated communities' replaced by black woman
The white editor of Alabama's newspaper Democrat-Reporter, who publicly advocated for the notorious Ku Klux Klan's revival in a controversial editorial, is reportedly being replaced by a black woman. The weekly paper's editor, Goodloe Sutton, on Friday, announced that Elecia R. Dexter will be taking over as publisher and editor.
Dexter, while talking to The Associated Press, said that Sutton — who has run the 140-year-old paper since the 1960s — will still retain its ownership while "I will handle everything else."
The dramatic change came last week after Sutton wrote and published an editorial which began with: "Time for the Ku Klux Klan to night ride again." Sutton has had a history of publishing racially and ethnically insensitive editorials.
Check the date. A paper published this in 2019. Wow. pic.twitter.com/jmVSTO61lX
