LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Paramount+ is on a cleaning spree. Unfortunately for viewers, the streaming service is removing content one after the other from its platform owing to tax write off which is expected to bring down costs and save them tons of money. This move has been a go-to policy for many big platforms including Disney and Warner Bros who cut off any underperforming content from their slate.

The streaming behemoth has already got rid of four of their high profile series namely ‘'Queens Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,’ ‘Star Trek: Prodigy,’ ‘Queen of the Universe,’ and 'The Game,' and now have made another string of cancellations starting with the famous comedian’s Amy Schumer’s show ‘Inside Amy Schumer.’

What are the latest cancelations by Paramount+?

‘Inside Amy Schumer’ returned to Paramount Plus for Season 5, but was canceled alongside other original movies and shows included in the streaming service's latest program purge. Docuseries ‘From Cradle to Stage’, ‘Ghislaine: Partner in Crime,’ and anthology thriller ‘Tell Me a Story’ are the original shows getting axed alongside ‘Inside Amy Schumer.’ ‘Fantasy Football’ and ‘Snow Day’ are the original movies being discarded by Paramount + in addition to the aforementioned series. The shocking news is that the Nickelodeon content offered on Paramount + is also being removed.

Shows like ‘All In With Cam Newton,’ ‘Allegra’s Window,’ ‘Becca’s Bunch,’ ‘Bella and the Bulldogs,’ ‘Crashletes,’ ‘Digby Dragon,’ ‘The Fresh Beat Band,’ ‘The Halo Effect,’ ‘Legendary Dudas,’ ‘Monsters vs Aliens,’ ‘Mutt & Stuff,’ ‘Nicky,’ ‘Ricky,’ ‘Dicky & Dawn,’ ‘Peter Rabbit,’ ‘Pig Goat Banana Cricket,’ ‘Ride’ and ‘The Troop’ are now no longer a part of Paramount+’s content library. Fans were now completely torn on learning about further cancellations and responded to it. One fan said, “Paramount+ seriously needs to slow its roll on canceling so many of their shows,” while another added, “Oh god. So many children's shows. That's gonna be a low blow for the little ones.” A third said, “This is getting ridiculous! Paramount+ isn’t even telling us what they’re trying to save money for.” A few took to Twitter to express their rage. A fan tweeted, “Wait so @paramountplus just deleted all of Inside Amy Schumer from existence? Isn’t that like an acclaimed show from a super famous artist??” as another re-imagined the logo of the streaming service which read, “Look out for exciting cancellation announcements - coming soon.”

Why is Paramount+ canceling shows?

Paramount Plus has incorporated Showtime programs into its platform in the US in a bid to expand its horizons. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson from the steaming giant said, “In the unified Paramount + with Showtime plan, the Showtime portfolio of edgy, critically acclaimed programming will complement the broad and popular Paramount + library in a seamless offering that appeals to everyone, enables more discovery between the brands and builds overall viewership. As we prepare to combine Paramount + and Showtime later this month in the US, we are refining our content offering to deliver the best streaming experience for subscribers. We are removing select programming as we look to optimize Showtime’s robust slate of premium originals.” However, it is still unclear as to how much money will Paramount save with its cancelations but the decision to axe the shows has angered many fans.
