How to watch 'Little Disasters'? Diane Kruger navigates postpartum depression in upcoming thriller
A mother of three takes her youngest daughter to the ER with an inexplicable head injury. The attending doctor happens to be the mother's friend and is torn between her professional duty and her ties of friendship. This is the scenario in which Diane Kruger's Jess finds herself in on the upcoming six-part limited series, 'Little Disasters'. Based on author Sarah Vaughn's best-selling book of the same name, 'Little Disasters' arrives on Paramount+ in the United States on December 11.
All six episodes of the limited series will be made available at once on Paramount+. In the US, the streaming platform offers two streamlined subscription packages. The Essential Plan costs $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year and includes limited ads. Subscribers who sign up for the Essential Plan can access their library of over 40,000 episodes and movies, including live sports coverage of the UEFA Champions League and the NFL.
The package allows a user to simultaneously stream on up to three devices. On the other hand, the Paramount+ Premium Plan chalks up to $12.99 monthly or $119.99 annually, and includes ad-free broadcasts except in the case of live TV. It also includes access to SHOWTIME and allows users to download content for offline access, as per TVGuide. 'Little Disasters' sheds light on the subjects of motherhood, morality, identity, and post-partum depression. Kruger's character of Jess is one part of the four-member friends group, which also includes Jo Joyner as Liz, Shelley Conn as Charlotte, and Emily Taaffe as Mel.
This group of expecting mothers-turned-friends is tied by the proximity of their delivery dates. Over the years, the four friends have seen each other through motherhood and the arduous process of raising children, as per Deadline. When Jess takes her youngest daughter, Betsey, to the hospital with a head injury she can't seem to explain, it sets in motion a chain of events that pulls away the veneer from their carefully curated life of perfection.
The upcoming limited series has been produced by BAFTA-winning Roughcut Television and has been adapted for the screen by Amanda Duke and Ruth Fowler. Patrick Baladi, Stephen Campbell Moore, JJ Feild, and Ben Bailey Smith star as supporting players. Kruger had opened up about her character Jess while speaking in a February 2025 interview with THR, during the course of which she stated, "I was incredibly drawn to her—the type of mother that she is aspiring to be. I felt a lot of compassion for [Jess]. She is incredibly fierce and would do anything for her children…You rarely get offered a part that is equal parts strength and vulnerability, and out of my own personal life, I could also bring a lot to the table."
