Where was 'Fallout' Season 2 filmed? Explore the real places behind Prime Video's post-apocalyptic series
Prime Video's post-apocalyptic saga is all set to spread chaos once again with the release of 'Fallout' Season 2. Released on Tuesday, December 16, the eight-episode season 2 will continue after the events of season 1. Since 'Fallout' Season 2's release, the picturesque locations are also grabbing eyeballs, making many wonder about where the latest season of the series has been shot.
As per reports, filming for 'Fallout' Season 2 took place mainly in Los Angeles, California, beginning in November 2024. Production was briefly paused in January 2025 due to wildfires, but resumed weeks later and wrapped in May 2025. Much of the season was shot at North Hollywood's Valley Plaza mall, which was transformed to recreate the post-apocalyptic New Vegas Strip, including iconic locations like Vault 21, the Lucky 38 casino, and the Ultra-Luxe, as per Moviedelic.
For 'Fallout' Season 2, several Los Angeles studios, including Warner Bros, Studios 60, Los Angeles Center Studios, and Sunset Studios, likely served as key production sites. The crew built sets resembling Freeside and filmed important indoor scenes at Camp McCarran in March 2025, while various LA streets and neighborhoods were transformed to depict the season's post-apocalyptic world.
It's worth noting that Los Angeles and its surrounding areas have long been a hub for film and television production. Major movies shot there include 'Avatar: The Way of Water' and 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', among others. Popular TV shows filmed in the region include 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', 'House of the Dragon', and 'Game of Thrones', among others.
For the unversed, 'Fallout' Season 2 will consist of eight episodes, with a new episode released weekly on Wednesdays, a change from season 1 when all episodes dropped at once, as per Cosmopolitan. The upcoming schedule is as follows: Episode 2 on December 24, Episode 3 on December 31, Episode 4 on January 7, Episode 5 on January 14, Episode 6 on January 21, Episode 7 on January 28, and Episode 8 on February 4.
Talking about the release timing of the show, it was originally set to release at 8 am GMT on Wednesday, December 17, in the UK. However, the schedule was moved up, with episodes now dropping on December 16 at 6 pm PT/9 pm ET, meaning UK viewers will be able to watch the show just a few hours after midnight on December 17. The new season will follow Lucy (Ella Purnell) and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) on a road trip to New Vegas. The duo embarks on the journey in search of Lucy's father, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan).
