'Welcome to Pathville' father-son duo Micah and Barry 'bond like bros' after divorce that split family
CAIRO, GEORGIA: Micah Plath, who now lives in California, hundreds of miles away from his family in Georgia, was ecstatic to visit his father and siblings during Labor Day weekend.
Meanwhile, in the forthcoming episode of 'Welcome to Plathville' Season 5, Barry and Micah are shown growing muscle together—and improving their bond in the process.
Barry, who now stays with the children in the family home while Kim resides in a flat above her dancing studio, said in the season premiere that "a lot has changed" in his life, including discovering independence from Kim.
Micah, on the other hand, is creating his own path and living life the way he wants now that he is living on his own in LA.

The father-son duo attended the gym together in a sneak peek from TLC's 'Welcome to Plathville' episode airing on September 12. Micah takes his 55-year-old father through his rigorous workout program.
"Micah and I have entered, like, a new phase of our relationship where we're bonding as, like, bros in the gym," Barry explains. "I'm here to pump him up. He's here to pump me up."
He asks his child what he wants to do first and advises that they concentrate on their legs. Micah, on the other hand, insists on starting with chest workouts. He approaches the bench press and asks Barry to be "my spotter."
Micah completes a rep before complaining about how heavy the bar is. "Comedy routine in the midst of bench press," Barry chuckles as his son pushes himself farther. Micah puts the bar down after a few reps, explaining that it was "just a warmup."
"Almost instantly, it's just competition," Micah grins at producers. "'Oh, you lift that much? Let me put some more weight on. Watch this.'"
His father is challenged to "jump straight to 225" on the bench press. Barry readily accepts and lifts two large plates.
"It's a guy thing. It's a male testosterone event — I like it," Barry tells the producers. Curls and pull-downs are among the other exercises performed by the pair. "I wanna see his veins just bulging as he tries to keep up with me."
They flex their muscles and flaunt their strength, exuding confidence. When Micah asks his father whether he can hang from a pull-up bar, Barry acknowledges, "Yeah, I can't do that."
Barry disclosed in last week's season opener that he has been going to the gym three to four times a week since his divorce from Kim Plath, 51. He claimed that working out began as a means for him to release stress and frustration, but it gradually became his new love.
"Working out, that’s my new hobby," he told the producers during the episode. "It used to be an outlet because I was frustrated. I was going through the first four steps of the grieving process in the divorce."
