Spoilers for 'When the Weather is Fine' Episode 8

Episode 8 of 'When the Weather is Fine' shows us why Im Eun-seop's (Seo Kang-joon) mother and Mok Hae-won (Park Min-young) were right to worry about him disappearing. After following someone that he imagined into the woods while he was sick, he slips, falls down and passes out. He only comes to after hearing Hae-won's voice call out to him in the middle of a night on a snowy day. However, once he does her at the cabin, Eun-seop is extremely unhappy that she came in search of him.

He begins to give her the cold shoulder despite being in love with her (at least according to his journal entry from the previous episode). At this point, it looks simply as if Eun-seop is unable to deal with his trauma and explain how he feels to Hae-won. At this point, we see Hae-won also fall sick, which is not surprising considering how she took a walk in the mountains in the middle of the night. However, she doesn't seem to care about Eun-seop at this point after how she was humiliated by him the previous night.

Mok Hae-won and Im Eun-seop (JTBC)

While Eun-seop doesn't have to explain to her about the previous night, he does end up confessing to his mother about seeing the illusion of "that woman". He explains how the illusion has led him to the mountains and even promised his mother that he wouldn't go back to the mountain again without her permission. He then returns to the bookstore to find Hae-won burning with fever and cold. He doesn't really talk to her or comfort her, it is more forceful caretaking that only has us confused further.

When Hae-won refuses to fall in line, Eun-seop begins to request her to take care of herself and she asks him what he would do in return if she were to listen to him. She wants a definite answer and she asks him if he would be able to give her his response if she did as he said. All he responds instead is "Sorry, I am really sorry."

What is frustrating us at this point is not knowing why Eun-seop is reacting the way he is when his actions and his written words say otherwise. His back and forth is confusing not only Hae-won, but also us. However, the way this tug of war within him has built into a storm, forms the mood of the entire episode and it surely has you anticipating Eun-seop and Hae-won's next moves.

Hae-won and Eun-seop at the end of Episode 8 (JTBC)

Every time Hae-won struggles with Eun-seop's rejection, he seems perturbed but not enough to tell her the truth. Then Hae-won explains how she thought all his warm concern towards her seemed to tell her he was interested in her. She'd decided to have it out with him after the two of them decide to hike to the summit of the mountain behind the bookstore. At the summit, even as Hae-won tells Eun-seop that she won't misunderstand his actions further, Eun-seop finally gives in to his feelings and desires and ends up kissing her!

But now what?

New episodes of 'When the Weather is Fine' will air on Mondays and Tuesdays on JTBC.
