NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘This Is Us’ star Justin Hartley earlier opened up about his 18-year-old daughter Isabella Justice Hartley, who was off to college. Justin explained how he sometimes let her “stumble and fall” during a conversation on ‘Today’.

Back in February this year, ‘Today with Hoda and Jenna’ hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager welcomed the acclaimed actor on the show.

Hartley opened up about how he was still in contact with his ‘This Is Us’ cast mates and his new Spotify series called ‘Harley Quinn and The Joker: Sound Mind’.

Justin Hartley's latest projects

During an episode of ‘Today’ early this year, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager welcomed Justin Hartley shortly after ‘This Is Us’ concluded its final season.

Before the discussion veered on to his new projects, Kotb asked Hartley if he is “still on the text chain.”

Hartley replied, “Yeah, we're still yeah, we still have that. We have a few text chains going, some of them more bizarre than others, but they're interesting now because everyone's doing different things.”

Kotb asked, “Who’s the weirdest on the text?”

“It depends on who you say. Yeah, no, it would have to be Chris Sullivan,” the actor exclaimed.

While reflecting on his past projects, Hartley revealed that he is doing a “Superman animated podcast thing” titled 'Harley Quinn And The Joker: Sound Mind'.

He said, “They do a really good job of, I think, casting, if I do say so myself. But the cast around me was great. I mean, the idea that you're in that room with people and you're watching them work and you only have your voice, that's all you have.”

He continued, “You don't have any gesticulation that you're doing it for yourself. Obviously, you can't see it, but it is funny to watch these people and they're doing these weird things. And if you just took the voice off and you watch them, it looks like they're going crazy. Right.”

“But they're getting into character. But it was nice being in a room with all those people and being able to do that, and then that's kind of how I read a book. I was saying earlier, that when I'm reading a book and I'm flipping through the pages, I'm hearing that stuff, too. Like the pitter patter. Yeah, I hear all that stuff. That's interesting,” Hartley added.

During the interview, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager went on to ask Justin Hartley about his 18-year-old daughter, Isabelle Justice Hartley.

She said, “Jenna and I were shocked to realize that you have a daughter who is 18. She’s out of the house.”

Hartley laughed and said, “I guess I’m an empty nest.” ‘Today’ then showed some adorable pictures of Hartley with Isabella as he revealed, “We took a trip to New York and came back here, actually. She was here. She was on the show.”

When Kotb mentioned, “That child of yours is now off. I mean she’s off and running”, Hartley said, “Well, there’s pride, a lot of pride.”

He continued, “Because you worry so much about them, and you always wonder, what if? Is this going to happen? And then you realize it's not worth worrying about.”

“Just watch them and trust them. And then you have to let them stumble and fall, which is always so painful because you just want to give them money or tell them, hey, don't go that way. Yeah, but you got to watch. You got to let them do it,” he added.
