'When I was the Most Beautiful' Episode 9 promo hints at Jin and Hwan's discomfort and discord over Ye-ji
'When I was the Most Beautiful' Episode 9 will see what happens now that Jin's (Ha Seok-jin) family is aware of the fact that he is alive. The man is paralyzed from the waist down, and he is feeling insecure about wanting to return to his family as a man who is fatally injured, especially after having watched how his father and mother's relationship fell apart over his father's injury which he believes even today was caused by him. In the promo, we see Ye-ji (Lim Soo-hyang) confront him about why he hadn't returned or even informed them that he was alive but he has no response. We also hear Ye-ji ask him if she doesn't deserve to know this much as his wife but this reunion after seven years might not go very well.
We see Ye-ji walk out of a house in anger and we also see Jin tell someone that he wants to be alone for a while. Is Jin addressing Ye-ji as he says this? If he is, Ye-ji is definitely going to be heartbroken, but she might understand Jin's position too. However, what about Hwan? In the promo, we see Hwan (Ji Soo) tell Ye-ji that she shouldn't worry about him or mind what he said in the past and that she should only worry about his brother now that he has returned.
However, considering how Jin's accident has changed him and the last seven years have changed Hwan, the equation between the three of them is expected to go through a wringer before it gets sorted out. The question will be if anyone among the three would have a happy ending at the end of the show. Each of them is going through a harrowing experience, in terms of love, family, or self-worth, and for anyone of them to build up their life from scratch is something that will be interesting to watch. There is also the scandal that was posted online of Hwan and Ye-ji which Jin finds online and he also asks his brother if he still likes Ye-ji. This leads us to believe that the two brothers are set to confront over Ye-ji soon.
Then there is also a secret that Jin's mother seems to be hiding from Ye-ji. We are not sure what it is, but what is certain is that this has something to do with Carrie, Jin's ex-girlfriend and the person who helped Jin acquire a fake id to live in Monterey all these years. There is some kind of mystery behind Jin's accident too, as it seems like he was a victim of a set trap. However, who set the trap and why the would go to the extent of hurting Jin is something that we have to watch out for.
'When I was the Most Beautiful' will air on MBC on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9.30 pm KST. It will be available on Viu outside South Korea.
