Courtney Rhodes early life and education

Rhodes is a multifaceted and accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in the media and marketing industries. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1976, she spent most of her childhood in Shulerville, South Carolina, where she grew up with her siblings Nathaniel Byron, Alicia and Ryan Rhodes. Her father's death in 2006 had a profound impact on her life. Despite this tragedy, she persevered and went on to pursue her career with determination and ambition.

As a child, she participated in beauty pageants and modeling, at the ages of five and 10. Her mother hoped to balance out her tomboy nature with these activities, and she excelled, winning over 20 pageants and scoring several modeling gigs. After graduating from high school, she attended Morgan State University from 1993-1998, where she was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). She then went on to earn a Masters of Arts in Communications-Publications Design from the University of Baltimore from 2000-2002.

Following her education, Rhodes began her career with professional internships at top-tier companies such as Nordstrom’s Fashion Office, Elite Models NYC, Girls Life Magazine and Radio One in Baltimore. She then shifted her career to the media industry, working as an account manager at iHeartMedia from May 2003 to May 2005, where she generated new business and managed existing accounts for three music stations. She also integrated concert/event sponsorships, outdoor media and online assets. While working at iHeartMedia, she was promoted to Sales Manager in Tampa, Florida, where she managed the day-to-day operations of the sales arm of an urban radio station and its online assets. In 2007, she took on the role of General Sales Manager for two country music radio stations and their online assets in Atlanta, Georgia. Her impressive track record in sales and management helped her get the account executive's position at Meredith Corporation, where she managed and developed an advertising agency, digital advertising and new business clients for WGCL-46/CBS Atlanta.

Rhodes' passion for brand marketing led her to join Coca-Cola Enterprises as a brand ambassador, driving social awareness for the 2015 Coca-Cola Pay It Forward Program. In 2015, she returned to the media industry as a Senior Brand Consultant at iHeartMedia in the Greater Chicago Area. In October 2017, with her extensive experience in marketing and advertising, she co-founded Urbanity Communications, which was later renamed C&D | The Agency.

As the co-founder and managing partner of the agency, Rhodes oversees the development of marketing strategies for clients across a range of industries, including media, entertainment, and lifestyle brands. She is also actively involved in philanthropy, supporting various charitable organizations, including Girls Inc. and The Ryan Cameron Foundation. With her impressive resume and diverse skill set, it is no surprise that Rhodes is considered a dynamic and influential figure in the media and marketing industries.
