LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Psychological thrillers continue to be a popular film genre, with 'Dead Ringers' standing out as one of the most critically acclaimed examples. In August 2020, it was announced that Amazon Studios, Annapurna Television and Morgan Creek Entertainment have commissioned a series-length remake of the 1988 film. The series will be written and executive produced by Alice Birch, known for her work on 'Lady Macbeth,' while Rachel Weisz will star and also serve as executive producer.

This news is exciting for fans of the original film who are eagerly awaiting the new version of this riveting psychological thriller. While the novel and movie 'Dead Ringers' starred male twin doctors, the upcoming TV series will focus on female twin OBGYN specialists instead. The change in the gender of the main characters is a departure from the original, but it could add a new perspective to the story and allow for the exploration of new themes and character dynamics.
