The midseason premiere of 'Chicago Med' Season 11 on Wednesday, January 7, has left fans worried about Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt). One of the most beloved and important characters of the medical drama faced a critical issue in the episode titled 'Triple Threat'. Known for his wit and cheerful personality, Dr. Charles went through an emotional rollercoaster in the latest episode, leaving fans concerned about his future in the show.

In the episode, Dr. Charles faced an impossible decision to deny a heart transplant to a mentally ill patient after discovering she had attempted suicide. Initially misled by the patient's sister, he followed protocol. However, the kind-hearted doctor felt haunted, believing he may have sent someone to their death based on his judgment, as per NBC. During therapy, Dr. Charles' therapist confronted him for not being fully honest, forcing him to open up about his struggles.

Crubming under stress, he then admitted he hadn't been completely forthright about the challenges he faced at work and revealed he had been contemplating retirement. "I think about it all the time. I don't know if I have it in me anymore... Everything just seems to be getting so much, I don't know if it's me who's changing or the patients, but on days like yesterday, man, I don't know how much gas I have left in the tank."

Dr. Charles then revealed he had left out details about a heated argument with transplant surgeon Dr. Justin Morris (Lee Jones) over a patient's eligibility. During the debate, Dr. Jones snapped that he didn't want a good heart "to go to waste on an at-risk patient," which triggered a full-body panic attack for Dr. Charles, his first such episode in decades. The stress was so severe that he ended up with a nosebleed.

In tears, he admitted, "I think there's something really wrong with me, and I don't know what it is. I'm scared," leaving viewers wondering what will happen to the fan-favorite character. Notably, after the November midseason finale, 'Chicago Med' returned on Wednesday, January 7, as per Today. 'Chicago Med' Season 11 resumes at 8 pm on NBC with episode 8, which follows the aftermath of a major power outage. For viewers who missed the broadcast, the episode was also made available to stream the following day on Peacock.
