What happened between Mackenzie Mckee and Josh? Did the 'Teen Mom OG' star's husband sleep with her cousin?
When fans first caught a glimpse of Mackenzie McKee and her boyfriend Josh McKee, the couple seemed like a good match. Although the two were relatively lax at the beginning of her pregnancy, McKee's Type 1 diabetes led to a whole set of complications. She went on to have her son via a C-section, with McKee by her side the whole time. It was nice to see that the two wanted to be together and make their relationship work.
The couple, who had been dating since 2010, got pregnant less than a year late. It was revealed on the show that McKee was not taking birth control because she was scared it'll make her fat. She was also extremely close to her mother, Angie Douthit, who was a third-grade teacher when the show aired. McKee went to her mother for everything and anything.
In 2013, McKee realized that she was pregnant again. However, the couple suffered a late-term miscarriage; they named their unborn son Oakley. The two did end up tying the knot later that year and welcomed their second child in 2014 and named him Jaxie Taylor. Like Gannon, Jaxie was also birthed via an emergency C-section. Mckee gave birth to their third child shortly after, in 2016. Broncs Weston was also birthed via an emergency C-section.
The couple seemed fairly happy, with their growing family, until the last few years that is.
However, when her mother, Angie Douthit diagnosed with lung and brain cancer in 2018, it took a toll on the star. Besides their best efforts, her mother passed away in December 2019, which ultimately led to McKee's spiral into a dark place. It's around this time that her relationship with her husband hit a rough patch, seeing that she began accusing him of cheating on her. She took to social media to talk about it and fans were appalled to hear this, seeing that she claimed he was cheating on her with her cousin.
Fans rallied to her support only to find out later that it was an emotional affair. McKee had been talking to her cousin, but that was the extent of it; the two had not slept together. Unfortunately for them, the damage had been done.
McKee also came clean with the fact that she, too, had cheated on Josh, way back in 2016. As reported by The Sun, McKee spilled the beans on Domenick Nati Show via Instagram Live. She admitted that her affair lasted six months. She also claimed that Josh had a one night stand, but the timeline for that remains unclear.
"When we were married, when Broncs was a baby, I did get in a relationship with a man and that was in 2017 and he caught me and he left me, and not only did he leave but he gained full custody of the kids," she revealed.
In a recent interview with In Touch, McKee opened up about that period of her life. McKee began abusing substances and even joined Tinder.
“I was just making really poor decisions, obviously, with drinking, with partying again, with seeing guys I shouldn’t have been. And then when I wasn’t around anyone, I would just take enough medicine to just knock me out because being coherent was too painful.” is what she had to say. She did admit that it was the two of them that ruined their marriage together and by the look of their situation, the two of them are trying to fix it.
McKee recently posted the above picture of her and Josh on her Instagram page. Although the caption doesn't tell us much ("When the best photographer around needs a model couple. Well hot dang we ain’t as ugly as I thought 😅😅😅."), other than implying that they're a couple, the fact that they are holding each other seems like enough of an indicator that they two are trying to reconcile their difference and give each other a second chance.
