Chloe Grace Moretz the actress who starred in last year's 'Tom & Jerry' will star in Amazon Prime's upcoming science fiction project, 'The Peripheral'. The series is based on a 2014 science fiction mystery-thriller novel under the same name by William Gibson.
Scott Smith serves as the executive producer and creator while the series is produced by Amazon. Apart from Smith, 'Westworld' creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy serve as executive producers, along with Athena Wickham, Steve Hoban, and Vincenzo Natali. The Amazon show will have hour-long episodes and has been developed by Kilter Films, through Amazon Studios. Another big banner that is attached to the project is Warner Bros. Television which is also involved as a producer. It is known that Smith would create the series, while also serving as showrunner and executive producer. However, on March 30, 2021, Greg Plageman joined the series as executive producer and replaced Smith as showrunner. The good news for the fans is that a second season is in active development.

'The Peripheral' follows Flynne Fisher, a woman with a dead-end job who plays video games for rich people at night to earn some extra cash. However, one-night Flynne puts on her headset and finds herself in a futuristic England and she soon realizes this is not virtual reality but London, 70 years in the future. And now that she’s discovered it, it means danger.
Although the official synopsis of the film reads, "Set in the future when technology has subtly altered society, a woman discovers a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own."
What is the buzz around 'The Peripheral'?
According to Entertainment Weekly, Claire Moretz elaborated more about her character in the upcoming Amazon series. She said, "She's actually operating a robot body in the year 2100," Moretz shared. "And hopefully what she finds out from the future, she can use as a little bit of a road map to mitigate the impending doom [that's] headed toward their present."
As per Dailymail, Chloe Grace Moretz made a promotional appearance for the upcoming series 'The Peripheral' during New York Comic Con on Saturday and was all smiles while talking about her new show.
