'Come on down!': Wendy Williams' sick joke about Drew Carey's ex-fiancee Amie Harwick's death leaves viewers fuming

Wendy Williams has once again managed to trickle down into the internet's bad books after cracking probably the most insensitive joke on therapist and Drew Carey's ex-fiancee Amie Harwick after she died from a third-floor balcony fall.

Just two days after Harwick died from what is believed to have been an alleged attack from her ex-boyfriend, Williams addressed the incident on her talk show, telling the audience that she was “killed not by Drew.” Things soon turned nastier when Williams said, “Come on down!” — the same phrase Carey uses on the game show. 'The Price Is Right'. While passing these comments, Williams was also seen tilting her head, probably referring to Harwick's fall from the balcony, which caused her death.

But while the audience on Williams' show remained quiet as she somehow just went on with the conversation, the internet pretty much exploded for all the obvious reasons.

“I KNOW #WendyWilliams did NOT just make a ‘come down’ joke about Drew Carey’s ex-fiancée getting killed by being thrown off of a third-floor balcony!!! Somebody tell me I heard that wrong, please… but the audience is stone-cold quiet,” shared a viewer on Twitter.

Another added: "@WendyWilliams come on down? Real classy. Someone’s daughter was killed. Not funny. Owe family an apology #DrewCarey."

A third wrote: "Rarely do I comment on things here. But just overheard @WendyWilliams making a joke about Drew Carey’s ex-fiancée being murdered. With a ‘come on down joke’ after she was thrown off a balcony. And people thought your fart was disgusting but what comes out of your mouth is worse.”

Speaking about Harwick’s death, Carey told People: "Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation."

Carey and Harwick had started dating in 2017 and news of their engagement arrived in early 2018. They split just less than a year later. Harwick, an acclaimed therapist within the entertainment industry, is being mourned on social media.

As reported previously by MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), law enforcement shared with TMZ that an early Saturday morning call of a woman screaming in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood is how they were informed of the incident. Police were met in the street by Harwick's roommate, who claimed she was being assaulted inside her house, reported TMZ.

Police allegedly said when they attempted to get inside Harwick's house, they found her unresponsive, under a third-story balcony. Her injuries were consistent with a fall and she was taken to a hospital, wherein she later succumbed to her injuries.
