Joan Cusack makes first red carpet appearance in 11 years beside husband Richard after stepping away for family

Joan Cusack looks better than ever as she returned to the red carpet after 11 years alongside husband Richard Burke. Cusack made her long-awaited comeback at 'Toy Story 5' London premiere on May 28, 2026. The movie sees her reprise her voice role as cowgirl toy Jessie alongside Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz. The two-time Oscar nominated actress and sister of fellow actor John Cusack rose to fame in the 1980s after delivering great comedic performances. But she has stayed away from red carpets since September 2015. Cusack told The Huffington Post that she took a step away from the spotlight to focus more on her family and kids living in Chicago. She said, "As my kids would say, ‘Chicago is awesome!’ It has rich culture and history, as well as some of the best museums, architecture, and restaurants in the world. Plus, it prevents our family life from revolving around TV and the movies. In L.A., it’s easy to get caught up in what you look like or how much money you have, and those aren’t values I want my kids to adopt.”
