Anna Kendrick to Direct Netflix’s ‘Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ Adaptation After Second Filmmaker Departs Movie
Anna Kendrick is set to direct Netflix’s long-awaited adaptation of the hit 2017 novel, ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.' While Netflix bought the rights for the story in 2022, the movie has since struggled to take off after two other filmmakers previously attached to the project, Maggie Betts and Leslye Headland, departed for unknown reasons.
Jessica Chastain has been a fan-favorite to play the title role of Evelyn Hugo, the iconic redhead, with several fans even pleading with her at the set of her shoots. While the actress previously expressed she was open to reading the script, she later firmly shut down speculation and said she's "sorry to disappoint everyone."
Kendrick made her directorial debut with the 2023 movie, 'Woman of the Hour.'
