‘Toy Story 5’ Might Be The Franchise’s Most Uncomfortably Real Film Ever
Disney Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 5’ might become the franchise’s most uncomfortably real film yet, featuring a dark and real issue. Speaking at the London launch event for Pixar’s upcoming sequel, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen revealed that Woody and Buzz are no longer facing toy collectors or daycare escapes, but modern childhood anxieties like screen addiction, digital isolation, and cyberbullying.
Hanks shared that the film includes an emotional storyline where Bonnie receives cruel text messages from other children, creating a new kind of helplessness for Woody that the franchise has never explored before. Allen also connected the movie’s themes to growing concerns around technology and AI in everyday life.
'Toy Story 5' releases in theaters on June 19, 2026.
