Charlie Hunnam boldly weighs in on the controversial serial killer, Ed Gein. Hunnam, who portrays the killer on screen in Netflix's 'MONSTER: THE ED GEIN STORY,' revealed he believes isolation and lack of a loving and caring environment is what turned the man into a murderer. Speaking at the LA screening of the show on April 25, 2026, the actor said after getting past media "sensationalism" about the murderer and reading his hospital transcripts, Hunnam felt "protective" about Gein after realizing mental illness was to blame and Gein spent "30 years in harrowing remorse" after getting treatment.
